FAIR PLAY PLEDGE
Players:








I will respect and show appreciation for the volunteer coaches who give their time to coach.
I will support all efforts to remove abuse; verbal, physical and written from minor softball.
I will remember that participants play softball for enjoyment.
I will give positive comments that motivate and encourage continued effort. I will not ridicule any player for making mistakes
during a game.
I will not use bad language, nor will I harass players, coaches, umpires or other spectators.
I will respect the umpire's decision(s) and I will encourage all participants to do the same.
I will show respect for my team's opponents for without them there would be no game.
I will have fun!
Coaches:









I will operate within the rules and spirit of the game and will teach my players the same.
I will not use bad language, nor will I harass players, coaches, umpires or other spectators.

Kitchener and Waterloo Minor Girls Softball Associations support a Zero Tolerance policy regarding:


the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco at all sports fields, parks and player/spectator areas during all games,
practices and Association's events.
the use of social media to bully or harass a coach, player, parent, spectator, umpire, executive member or any
other participant in Kitchener and Waterloo Minor Girls Softball.
The above commitment to Fair Play will pave the way for teamwork, better softball and positive attitudes. Win or lose, we
will treat each other with respect!
The above policies are in effect with or without a signed consent. Any participant who violates the above policies may be
subject to disciplinary action by the KMGSA/WMGSA Disciplinary Committee.
Coaches, or Umpires will be required to submit a completed Incident Report to their Association's Board and may obtain
an incident report by contacting a member of their Board. Incident Reports will be forwarded to the Disciplinary
Committee for review.

KMGSA/WMGSA Disciplinary Policy
The KMGSA/WMGSA Disciplinary Committee is charged with reviewing, investigating and where necessary, enforcing
disciplinary actions in response to a submitted Incident Report alleging violation(s) of the KMGSA/WMGSA
Coach/Player/Parent Fair Play Pledge.
The KMGSA/WMGSA Disciplinary Committee will be comprised of two Board Members each from KMGSA and WMGSA
appointed by their respective Boards at the time of an incident.
Coaches, players or parents who violate the Fair Play Pledge may be reported to any member of their Association's
Executive for direction to the KMGSA/WMGSA Disciplinary Committee.
Coaches and Umpires are asked to reflect on the incident, the actions of the individuals involved and complete an Incident
Report regarding the events and/or issues of concern. The Disciplinary Committee reserves the right to invoke the 24
hour rule to allow for a cooling off period before addressing the incident.
Disciplinary Misconduct and Possible Penalties:
The KMGSA/WMGSA Disciplinary Committee uses the following penalties as a guideline and may at their
discretion, increase or decrease a penalty, pending their review and investigation of a reported incident.
Depending on the circumstances of an incident, players/coaches may play, until otherwise notified, pending an
investigation into the incident.

(Abusive language directed at an official, coach

Suspension for remainder of the season.
Physical Abuse
(act, attempt or threat of physical contact e.g.
pushing, pulling, charging etc. directed at a
player, coach, parent, spectator on or around
the playing field)
There is ZERO tolerance for physical or threats of physical violence.
Offending players, coaches, parents, and spectators will not be
permitted to attend games for the remainder of the season. Players
will forfeit their enrollment fees. Offenders will require Board approval
to return for the next season.
Sexual Harassment/Abuse
(any act by anyone to take advantage of a
person for his/her sexual stimulation or
gratification)
The Association's Executive shall immediately investigate the
allegation and if necessary notify police.
Unsportsmanlike Conduct
(violating the rules of fair play and good
sportsmanship on or around the playing field.
Unsportsmanlike Conduct Repeated complaints will be addressed by
the Disciplinary Committee.
