Dear students, guests and friends of school
sport, We are very impatient to
Welcome you to Croatia, to the city of Poreč,
to the ISF World Schools Championship
in basketball at the end of April. It is our
honor and pleasure to welcome you
here to Poreč for the third time after the volleyball 2006 and futsal 2016
championships. We are very proud and thankful to the ISF for giving us the
chance to organize one of the biggest ISF World Championships. It is well
known that sports and other physical activities have numerous benefits, to
individuals and the entire community.
Scientists have proven that regular activity contributes to health, mental
balance, appearance and shape. Although we are all aware of that, we still pay
insufficient attention to sports activities or raising awareness of the
importance of sports in schools and everyday life. Especially today, when most
youngsters lead a sedentary lifestyle. Therefore, it is highly relevant to
emphasize the importance of physical and health culture. To that end, main
goals of all school sport activities should include: building habits of regular
exercise, encouraging a larger number of youngsters to practice sports,
educating young people about sports values, thus creating a well-rounded
young person. It is very important that all of us show our students just how
valuable sport is, and appreciate each person who encourages them in that
regard. This important sports event will serve as a contribution to all that I’ve
said. World schools championship is a unique experience for all
participants. On behalf of the entire organizing committee I wish you all a
pleasant arrival in Croatia soon, a wonderful time, lots of good matches and,
of course, new friendships. We are waiting for you!!

thousand young athletes from 34
countries on four continents. I am
certain that Croatia will prove to
be a great host and that you will prove why sport is a universal
language, bringing together people of all nationalities and
races. Both you and your families put a lot of work and effort
into each of your results. Thank you for promoting these values
with so much love every day. As you recognized the
importance of sports for the general good of mankind, I believe
this competition will bring you new and fascinating
experiences and that your matches will show why you are the
future of the world. I wish you with all my heart that you enjoy

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
OPENING CEREMONY
The opening ceremony will take place on April 30th 2017 at 7:00 PM at Intersport hall.
PARTICIPANTS' PARADE
Each country will participate in the parade with 2 students and referee(s).
They are supposed to arrive at Intersport hall at 6:15 PM at the latest. All participants,
except the heads of delegation and 2 students and referee(s) from each country will enter
the Intersport hall at 6:30 PM at the latest. The heads of delegations from each country are
supposed to arrive at the front of the Hotel of Delfin at 6:25 PM at the latest. Accompanied
by their guide the heads of delegation enter the hall.

GALA DINNER
The Gala dinner will be organized after the opening ceremony (30th April) in the Parentium
hotel for the guests and the heads of delegations. Only HOD's who have paid the Gala
charity dinner fee of 50 € can join the dinner.
The funds go to the ISF School Sport Foundation.
CULTURAL DAY
The Cultural Day will take place on the 5th day of the championship, on Wednesday, May 3rd . Each
team will visit 4 cultural attractions in the city of Poreč (will take 1 hour), accompanied by their
tourist guides and 1 volunteer. After the sightseeing, the groups will have free time until 7 PM when
the Intercultural festivalbegins. There will be 1 volunteer at the group's disposal throughout the day.
Bring the items you require for the Friendship Night with you and leave them on the tables with your
country's name tag once you get to the Square.
INTERCULTURAL FESTIVAL
After the Culture Day the Intercultural festival will take place on the main square in Poreč. The
groups will perform according to the following schedule.

The return schedule from the INTERCULTURAL FESTIVAL will be the same as for the departure
schedule!
FINAL MATCHES
The final matches are played at 5:30 PM (girls) and 7.30 PM (boys).
After the final match in the boys' competition, the prizegiving ceremony will take place.
CLOSING CEREMONY
Shortly after the medal ceremony, the closing ceremony will take place at the Intersport Hall from 9
PM till 9:15 PM.
FAREWELL PARTY
After the dinner, there will be a farewell party at the hotel.

HOTEL SERVICE INFORMATION
Lunch boxes
In case you think you won’t make it to any of the hotel meals due to your match, you can
pre-order lunch boxes every day until 7 PM for the following day.
Submit your lunch box request at the info counter with the exact number of meals.
Laundry
Laundry service is available per set/jersey (T-shirt + shorts + socks) for 5 EUR.
It is important to put your laundry into your own box which you can get at the reception so
that the hotel staff can take care of it without mixing it with the other delegations' laundry.
The laundry box should be left in the room so hotel maid can collect before 8 AM.
The same day at 2 PM your clean laundry will be given back to the maid and sorted according
to the teams and card boxes.
Each team must designate one person (e.g. head of delegation) as the one responsible person
whose room will be charged with the laundry fee.
The bill shall be paid upon departure at the reception desk.
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is free of charge for all championship participants, at the hotel lobby and in the sport
halls.
Money exchange
At the lobby of the hotel you can exchange money.
Entertainment
Every day during your stay there will be a disco night at the hotel from 9 to 11 PM.
