He graduated from Mississippi State University with a B.S. degree in animal science and from Auburn University with a DVM degree before setting up a mixed-animal practice back home. He was an extension veterinarian at MSU, launched Posilac at Monsanto, led NAIS at the state of Florida veterinarian’s office, and was vice president of producer education for NCBA’s Beef Quality Assurance program. Ashby “retired” to a commercial cow/calf partnership in Florida and established AG-DEO, LLC, an animal-health consultancy. She has been involved in the cattle industry in various ways throughout her life. This includes working in the family business, Mathiews Genetic Solutions, a provider of artificial insemination and embryo transfer services in registered and commercial herds, and a cattle genomics sales internship during college. He received his Ph.D. in beef cattle nutrition from the University of Nebraska, and from 1979 to 1993 was on the faculty of the Animal Science Department at the University of Missouri. He was a beef extension specialist at Montana State University and later executive director of education for the National Cattlemen’s Association. John has received numerous industry awards from the American Society of Animal Science, including the Pfizer Animal Health National Extension Award and the Distinguished Service Award. Tyler grew up on a commercial cow/calf operation in northeast Wyoming. While attending college, he was active on nationally competitive livestock judging teams and traveled to a wide variety of seedstock operations across the United States. After receiving an A.S. degree from Casper College, he went on to Oregon State University, completed an embryo transfer technician internship and graduated with a B.S. degree in animal science. After college, he managed a purebred Angus ranch in Eastern Oregon and then went to work selling nutrition products. His family has settled in the Treasure Valley of Idaho, where they raise purebred cattle and commercial sheep. She has a B.S. in biochemistry from Peru State College in Nebraska and an M.S. in integrated range management from Colorado State University.
