Gary grew up on a grain and livestock farm and has
been raising Gelbvieh cattle since 1996. He and
his family use artificial insemination and embryo
transfer in their cattle-breeding program. In his
career, Gary has worked in many segments of agribusiness, including
commodity trading, grain processing and ingredient manufacturing. He
has a B.S. from Purdue University in agricultural economics.
Jill grew up around the feedyards of Hereford,
Texas. As an animal health rep, she called on
ranches and feedyards. She bought cattle for a
national packer, is a past president of the American
National CattleWomen, past president of Texas CattleWomen and has
been involved in many industry committees. She has a B.S. degree from
Texas A&M.

Jim has broad experience in the cattle business
and animal science. He has been a leader at two
breed associations, held board positions in the Beef
Improvement Federation, the National Livestock
and Meat Board and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
He founded and sold an animal genomics company and taught beef
cattle management at the University of Illinois. He has a B.S. degree
from the University of Illinois and M.S. and Ph.D. from Colorado State
University.

Ashby grew up on a Mississippi crop, timber and
livestock farm. He graduated from Mississippi
State University with a B.S. degree in animal
science and from Auburn University with a DVM
degree before setting up a mixed-animal practice back home. He was
an extension veterinarian at MSU, launched Posilac at Monsanto, led
NAIS at the state of Florida veterinarian’s office, and was vice president
of producer education for NCBA’s Beef Quality Assurance program.
Ashby “retired” to a commercial cow/calf partnership in Florida and
established AG-DEO, LLC, an animal-health consultancy.

Audrey grew up on a large registered Red Angus
and commercial Angus ranch in Throckmorton,
Texas. She has been involved in the cattle industry
in various ways throughout her life. This includes
working in the family business, Mathiews Genetic Solutions, a provider
of artificial insemination and embryo transfer services in registered
and commercial herds, and a cattle genomics sales internship during
college. She was also actively involved in the Oklahoma Collegiate
CattleWomen’s Association. Audrey graduated from Oklahoma State
University with a B.S. degree in ag business.

John (JP) was raised on a ranch in Southwest
New Mexico. He received his Ph.D. in beef cattle
nutrition from the University of Nebraska, and
from 1979 to 1993 was on the faculty of the
Animal Science Department at the University of Missouri. He was a beef
extension specialist at Montana State University and later executive
director of education for the National Cattlemen’s Association. John
has received numerous industry awards from the American Society of
Animal Science, including the Pfizer Animal Health National Extension
Award and the Distinguished Service Award.

Rick grew up on a livestock and grain farm in NorthCentral Kansas, where he, his wife and daughters
now live as the fourth and fifth generations on
the land. They manage the family’s commercial
cow/calf operation and produce milo and wheat. Rick graduated from
Kansas State University with a B.S. degree in animal science and has
an extensive background in genomic applications in the seedstock and
commercial cattle sectors.
Tyler grew up on a commercial cow/calf operation
in northeast Wyoming. While attending college,
he was active on nationally competitive livestock
judging teams and traveled to a wide variety of
seedstock operations across the United States. After receiving an A.S.
degree from Casper College, he went on to Oregon State University,
completed an embryo transfer technician internship and graduated with
a B.S. degree in animal science. After college, he managed a purebred
Angus ranch in Eastern Oregon and then went to work selling nutrition
products. His family has settled in the Treasure Valley of Idaho, where
they raise purebred cattle and commercial sheep.

Shelby grew up on a livestock and grain operation in the Sandhills of Nebraska. She has been
involved in the cattle industry in various ways
throughout her career, including active participation in cow/calf and backgrounder operations, work in a veterinary
clinic, and BQA certification by NCBA. She has a B.S. in biochemistry
from Peru State College in Nebraska and an M.S. in integrated range
management from Colorado State University.
Ben Pejsar is our genomics market development
manager focusing on US academic and government-funded research. Ben received a B.S. in biology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and
joined GeneSeek® as a lab technician. Now into his second decade, he
has managed several divisions in the lab and brings broad expertise to
animal, veterinary and genomics scientists. His experience with many
pioneer and evolving technology platforms is a unique resource for the
research community. He is excited to bring these insights to new frontiers in genomic discovery.
