Our vision is creating a world where all young people are able to realise their employment and enterprise ambitions, irrespective of where they live, their nationality, ethnicity, gender, race, sexuality or faith The Youth Engagement Officer is an exciting and important role to engage young people (16 to 25 years old) to participate in our training, projects and events. The post holder will support the planning and delivery of activities to engage young people in the Bristol area. The post holder will divide their time between internal and commissioned work. Duties and Responsibilities Identify and recruit service users, project participants and volunteers for Babbasa initiatives and ensure the expected numbers of young people are retained on projects. Grow, update and strengthen local relationships with community, youth groups and support agencies. Support the Programme Coordinator and Office Manager to co-organise key Babbasa events and training workshops. Support the preparation and delivery of education workshops, experiential programmes and recreational activities, ensuring high quality, enjoyable learning experiences centred on the needs of the participants. Work in partnership with other local agencies to support engaged individuals and young people overcome challenges and meet their holistic needs, in order to successfully pursue their aspirations. Person specification We are seeking applications from individuals who possess the following skills and attributes: Required Experience/ Characteristics Understand the language and expectations of young people, particularly living in inner city Bristol Charismatic, friendly but disciplined in approach with engagement activities Empathic and responsible individual with proven ability to lead, motivate and manage young people on projects Able to form strong and appropriate relationships, demonstrating excellent communication skills at all levels and assess needs of young people Can work independently, supervise and motivate participants Experience of working with young people (16-25 year old) in a development role Planning, delivering and evaluating projects with an understanding on the needs of young people Experience of administrative duties An understanding of the principles and implementation of an Equal Opportunities Policy, Child Protection Policy and Health and Safety Policies Good organisation and time management skills; able to prioritise workloads effectively, meet deadlines and monitor outcomes Good ICT skills, spread sheets and competent in Microsoft Office or Apple software applications.
