Organization back ground
Zimbabwe Artists For Hope Trust [ZAFHT] was first formed in 2011 as an
idea of film makers and actors who needed a way to give back to the society
their piece of fame through art and charity work.
December 23 2011 [ZAFHT] launched a campaign to raise resources for
the orphan’s through their artists for hope Christmas tree project, which
we partnered with Adventure Island and Joina city mall. ZAFHT was
working with the themefrom the box to reality, meaning children had to
spend their Christmas with their television personals and that was like a
dream come true for the children.
In 2012 ZAFHT engaged in a research on issues affecting the community
through the media oral, experience, interaction, questioners and social
networks etc issue such as gender based violence [GBV] marginalization of
the disabled, child abuse, rape, environment degradation issues,
corruption, HIV and AIDS and many more which are things and issues that
people are living within in their day to day life where recorded for scripting
into films and documentary some film scripts and concepts were developed
and more are still under development stages.
In 2012 ZAFHT made application for funding and support for one of our
film projects but the political atmosphere was not favorable. The country
was undergoing a remake through a new constitution draft research and
preparations of the forth coming elections. The responses were not
favorable.
During that same period ZAFHT underwent legitimization processing
while waiting for the political and economical atmosphere to normalize
.Thus the trust was registered officially.
Now ZAFHTwith our based on true life events stories that affects and touch
the lives people in their day in day out, we have written or translated these
life events into screenplay, we are proud to be telling the Zimbabwean
story as it is.

RATIONALE
In Zimbabwe people living with albinism are neglected andbelieved to hold
powers or genes that can be used as a means of treating HIV & AIDS hence
they are likely to fall victim of rape and other unspeakable mistreatments.
Statistics reported say that an estimated 2000 people living with albinism
are hunted down in Tanzania alone every month for spiritual rituals and 3
in every 10 parents with children who are with albinism even sale their
own children to traditional healers voluntarily for cash, at times their body
parts are removed will they are still alive and many times they are killed.
The world7 billion population celebration in 2011 October got our
attention to create and produce a feature film calledSHAMISO with a
working title ‘we are not 7 billion’. Hoping to create awareness and educate
people living with, around, next to, nearby any person who might be
categorized as of the marginalized group in the society, to tolerate and
understand that we are all human despite our deferent needs and our
physical beings. We should all be given equal opportunities and time to be
who we are without fear or any form of segregation, which has led the film
to adopt the slogan ‘the power of influence’ as its theme.
This project SHAMISO is inspired by true events hence we intern to
translate the film inthree deferent languages one of them being
Swahilifor a direct connection with the people living in a country where
the record of albino hunting is just too much and the other is Shonafor a
society that is slowly learning but yet has its own glitches and short falls
And finally English which is a language mostly used universally so as to
raise awareness throughout the universe.
 The Zimbabwean public still need to be taught the challenges and
dangers of not paying attention to the environment, its effects on

other people who depend much on a good climate for survival and
reduce chances of skin cancer which is a danger to people living with
albinism more.
 This film has been developed for screen play hoping the world will
learn and have an in-depth understanding of the impact of
marginalization of other groups in the society.
 The film stands to teach and show people the dangers of little
knowledge pertaining to crucial issues.
 The film will show how people living with albinism are affected with
the decisions made for them.
There for having the film in three deferent languages insures
a large number of viewers than just having it in one language.
Goals and objectives
SHAMISO is a film that seeks to raise awareness against raping,
segregation, mutilation and killing of people living with albinism and other
forms ofmarginalization’s.
SHAMISO will be a major full-length feature film that is earmarked for
distribution to locally, regionally and internationally audience. This is a Film
that pushes for equality and victory than just being an entertainment film.
SHAMISOis a project that we have faith in and we believe it is going to put
Zimbabwe Film Industry on the map if adequately funded as well as change the
mindset of people towards people living with albinism.
Making of a feature film involves huge funding. The reason why most locally
made films are of poor quality and ineffectively distributed is largely
contributed by lack of funding from the government and the private sector. It
makes sense to request funding from companies or institutions in line with the
type of services they offer to the audience.
As much as film productions require funding for specific projects we believe the
projects should have something to do with where the funding is requested. Such
kind of projects will become a viable business initiative.
This request is open to full funding or part funding in cash or
kind. The fund will cater for Pre-production, Production and Post
production of theproject. These include the day-day running of the project
i.e. Scheduling, Casting, Locations Scout, Cast and Crew wages, transport,
catering, Cast costumes, Equipment, Location fees, Editing, Grading,
Marketing, Regional and International Distribution deals etc.

We aim to remove the perception and mindset of the majority who thinks it
is just a media marketing strategy when issues of marginalization are
continuously being read in the press and on the radio.
This project shows that these events can and are happening within our
communities and the region at large.
ZAFHT intent to make this film production available to the public at a very
low and affordable price, if not for free.
We intern to make SHAMISO a household name while the message goes to
people at a very fast and wider range in a short period of time.
ZAFHT’s intention is to produce as many disc copies as possible to support
the indoor activist mentality in the film as a silent visual STOP the abuse
campaigner.
Data capturing of the feedback of viewers will be the next step after the
film has reached the market.
Research on records and statistics of cases the hunting’s being recorded
will be held to check if there is a change in the rates.
To make available the disc copies to schools, clinic’s or boarder post at so
that the disc can be share with the people who come though.
We will use the best equipment and experienced actors to insure quality
production in the final product. This will also guarantee that our film is
viewable internationally with its standard and quality.
Film clinics/viewings and workshops will be conducted in schools,
community halls and work places, this is the direct connection we want to
create with the viewers.
ACTIVIES AND TIMELINE
We will to start shooting as soon as we have part of the production budget
mainly transport and food since our location is 30km out of town at lions
head resorts in shamva.

Overall impression
SHAMISO is a film that will be an archetypal trend setter for other
filmmakers to create a new line of distribution and marketing as well as
raising awareness about things that affect the masses through film.
1. Making this Film a success will not only be a groundbreaking for
people living with albinism in Zimbabwe alone but it will be also used
as a case study all over the world.
2. This Film will attract attention of Human Rights Organizations across
the world.
3. Will also act as a mouth piece to fight mutilation and killing of people
living with albinism and disability worldwide.
4. Raise awareness about the dangers of unproven research and beliefs.
We will make this goal a reality if we also have access to mobile cinema, so
that every person nationwide/globe will have a chance to watch film.
