Perfectly positioned. The Consortium CL4S managed to establish a

highly professional segment production plant in the center of Rio de
Janeiro under massive time pressure. Following design, manufacture
of the moulds and pre-assembly of the carousel plant in Schwanau,
Germany, assembly and commissioning of the segment production
plant in Rio took only two and a half months. An athletic performance,
taking into consideration the scope of supply including 5 sets of segment moulds, carousel plant, reinforcement supply, concreting system,
curing tunnel and a large package of handling equipment.
Strong team performance. In spite of restricted and difficult space
conditions, the production concept elaborated with Herrenknecht
Formwork proved its worth and has been implemented consistently.

Working line and segment pre-storage – state-of-the-art technology
in a very confined space in the segment production factory.
The carousel system with 40 moulds moving on a production line and
three curing lines has been continuously adapted to the tunnelling
speed of the TBM and the resulting daily concrete segment requirement. Smooth segment production has also been supported by the
tailor-made concrete supply system with longitudinal and transversal
displacement of the concreting bucket as well as the automated finishing line. With 19,000 segments already produced and an equipment
availability of 96% it is obvious that this team really deserves the title of
world champion in producing concrete segments.
