Research data repository for students' own results Ari Asmi, University of Helsinki, Finland. [email protected] Current Challenges Data management and metadata inclusion are not part of “normal scientific practice” • One way to make a change in research culture is to change education • There are specific courses for this – but data management is not yet part of normal course work. Why EUDAT? • EUDAT is a good partner of U. Helsinki and has readily available service for this kind of small data submission (B2SHARE) • Specific benefits are also that B2SHARE is actually working system (not a course “play system”) and thus use in the courses give direct transferrable skill for the student. The expected future impact • The use of data submission as a normal part of the scientific process is a key thing in any science education dealing with data. Such service could then have potential for wider use. • The EUDAT support for B2SHARE are other associated services (authentication etc) are very important.
