U.S. Cellular Unlimited Contract Payoff FAQs

U.S. Cellular Unlimited Contract Payoff FAQs
How long will it take to get my reimbursement and can I do anything to speed up
the process?
Once you have submitted your final bill you can expect to receive your Contract
Payoff within 8-10 weeks. While we cannot guarantee faster processing there are
some ways to help us verify your request quickly.




Be sure to submit the page from your final bill with the Early Termination
Fee or Remaining Installment Payments broken out for the applicable line on
the account. If you submit only the summary page showing the total ETF for
multiple lines it may delay processing.
Only submit for lines that have an ETF or Remaining Installment Payments
associated. More often than not customers find there will be some lines on their
account without an ETF. Avoid submitting requests for these lines with no ETF
associated. Refer to the detailed page of your final bill to see which lines have an
ETF.
Match the telephone number with the associated ETF or Remaining
Installment Payments for that line when you submit. Accurately matching
these numbers helps us verify the information.
YOU MUST CREATE AN ENTRY FOR EACH TELEPHONE NUMBER YOU
ARE CLAIMING! If you only submit one entry for all phone numbers the
additional numbers will not be paid out
How do I submit my final bill for Contract Payoff?




You must port in your current number to U.S. Cellular and purchase a new
smartphone or tablet through a Retail Installment Contract on a Shared Connect
Plan.
Once you have received your final bill from your old carrier, go to
www.uscellular.com/contractpayoff to complete your reimbursement submission
and upload a copy or image of your final bill.
Your final bill must reflect “Contract Termination fee” or “Early Termination fee
(ETF)” or “Hardware Installment plan” for each line requesting to be reimbursed.
If you prefer, you can print out a submission form and mail in a copy of your bill
with the completed form to the PO Box listed on the form.
How soon after I switch to U.S. Cellular do I have to submit my reimbursement
request?
You have 60 days (or two calendar months) from your date of activation at U.S.
Cellular to submit your request either online or via mail-in form.
How do I know if it is my final bill?
We require the final bill because only the final bill discloses the actual amount of
your ETF or Remaining Installment Payments. You will recognize the final bill by
looking for a special one-time charge. Most often this is listed as a “Early
Termination Fee” or “Contract Termination Fee” or “Hardware Installment Plan”. See
the examples below.
Verizon
AT&T
Sprint
T-Mobile
How much will I get reimbursed for?
As long as you meet all of the requirements you will get reimbursed for the full amount of your
Early Termination Fee or Retail Installment Contract.
What are your eligibility requirements?
In order to qualify for this Contract Payoff offer, you must be switching from a plan
on a contract or hardware installment plan with another carrier and port your current
numbers to U.S. Cellular. You must :




Purchase a new device with U.S. Cellular
Sign up for a Retail Installment Contract and Shared Connect plan
Purchase Device Protection +
Trade in your old device.
What if I don’t have a device to trade in?
If you don’t have a device to trade in or don’t trade in your old device, you can be eligible for up
to $350 in reimbursement for your Early Termination Fee or Retail Installment Contract.
Do I have to submit every page of my final bill with my previous carrier to qualify
for reimbursement?
No, we only need the page(s) of your bill that reflect your name, address, phone
number(s) and Early Termination Fee (ETF) amount or Remaining Installment
Payments. You can either upload a copy if you get an e-bill from your previous
carrier, or you can scan or take a picture(s) of the page(s) with this information and
upload the image online.
I was not able to port my number because the area code was not supported by
U.S. Cellular. Am I still eligible?
Yes you are eligible. Please submit all documentation and follow the steps as noted
above. You must also let the store/associate who activated your account know so
that they can submit an exception for you. Failure to follow all of these steps will
result in the payout being denied.
I received a notification saying I had missing or incomplete information on my
submission, what do I need to do?
If you received this type of notification it is most likely due to one of the following
reasons:




The image you uploaded is ineligible
The image does not specifically call out a “Contract Termination Fee” or “Early
Termination Fee” or “Hardware Installment Plan” for the line requesting to be
Reimbursed
The line entered does not match a line on the previous carrier bill
The image you uploaded is too many pages. Do not include all the call detail
pages of your bill making it difficult for us to find the ETF information
Note: The final submission must be legible and clearly state a contract or termination
fee or hardware installment plan.
If you received this notification, please review the image you submitted. You may
resubmit a new image for processing. Please remember to verify the images you
submit clearly identify a Contract Termination Fee or Early Termination Fee or
Hardware Installment Plan. It can be helpful to circle those amounts for the
processing teams to easily identify. You have 30 calendar days from your notification
to resubmit new images.
Who is this offer designed for?
Individuals and families who are currently under a postpaid contract or hardware
installment plan and want to switch to U.S. Cellular.
Will U.S. Cellular pay off the ETF or Remaining Installment Payments on my
tablet?
Yes. As long as that tablet is on a service contract with an early termination fee or
hardware installment plan, it is eligible a Contract Payoff. We will cover up to 6 total
lines (business accounts up to 25 lines), which can be a combination of tablets and
mobile phones. For tablets, we will cover your ETF up to $350 per mobile Internet
line when you purchase a new device with U.S. Cellular on a qualifying Retail
Installment Contract and Shared Connect plan with Device Protection +.
Does this offer apply to both single lines as well as multiple line accounts (i.e.
individuals and families)?
Yes. In fact, this is an even bigger deal for families because often times they have to
pay two, three or four times as much in early termination fees as individuals and
have to contend with staggered contracts expiration dates. With this offer, families
can make the switch to U.S. Cellular all at once without worrying about those kinds
of challenges (up to 6 lines. Business accounts up to 25 lines).
Remember when submitting for multiple lines you must complete a separate
submission for each line requesting a payout.
If I am currently financing my phone through another carrier (i.e. Next, Edge, One
Up), am I still eligible for the offer?
Yes. We are reimbursing for ETF amounts and hardware installment plans that are
financed.
How do I find my phone number on my tablet to submit my reimbursement
request?
You can find the wireless number associated with your tablet on your bill or by
calling your carrier.
Can I switch to U.S. Cellular at any location or online?

agent location, or online at http://www.uscellular.com. You can also call us at (1-888944-9400)
