Apply for a voluntary, community, health and well-being grant with Cgl. ‘Improving the quality of life for local people’ Applications will be reviewed on the following dates for 2016/2017 - 29 July 2016, 30 September 2016, 30 November 2016 and 27 January 2017 Voluntary and community grants help organisations pay for projects or activities which benefit the community. Health and well-being grants support voluntary and community organisations deliver projects which increase physical activity and positive mental wellbeing. Cgl have an annual budget of £100,000 assigned to grant applications. Who can apply? To be eligible to apply, your application must: be from a community/voluntary/not for profit organisation demonstrate plans to ensure the grant is spent within 12 months of it being allocated be led (or supported) by a constituted organisation with its own bank account be seeking a maximum grant of £2500 For further information: Email: [email protected] Telephone: 0121 227 5890 Guidance notes Purpose of grants Grants provide opportunities to undertake activity that cannot generate enough income to cover its costs. Grants are ideal for supporting research and development, building capacity or for new activities which over time could become self-financing. All grants awarded by Cgl will have a demonstrable positive impact on people and communities directly affected by drug and alcohol misuse. Grant challenges – things to consider when applying Grants are of a short-term nature - if the activity is to continue after funding ends and it is funded through grants, there needs to be a plan for how it will be funded longer-term Applications need to consider how their grant will affect the objectives grouped within the Reach out Recovery’s vision statement • • • • • • Reductions in re offending Improved housing Improved parenting Increased levels of employment Effective child safeguarding Improvements in physical and mental health Time – Once you’ve submitted your application form it takes time to get a decision – up to three months depending on the scale of grant requested and date submitted within the financial quarter How to apply The application form can be found on (include link to Cgl website) Grant decision-making process Cgl welcome applications from all those that are eligible to apply. All applications are assessed on an individual basis and not in competition with other applications received. All applications received are reviewed by a Board which primarily consists of service users, supported by a member of the Senior Management team. Types of decision that may be taken by a decision-making Board Award in full Reduced award Conditional award Deferred award Reject The award is made at the level requested in the application. The application is funded but at a reduced level. The Board may wish to ensure that a specific condition is met before an award is made The Board may withhold a decision in order to seek further information. The application will return to the next suitable Board meeting before a final decision will be made. The application is not funded. The applicant may be invited to attend the Board meeting to answer questions posed by any of the Board members. Applications are judged on the merits of the proposal put forward. Applicants or their colleagues must never attempt to contact a Board member to discuss aspects of an application or the decision reached on it. This feedback will include the views of the board that made the funding decision. Feedback provided is solely at the Boards discretion and is intended to provide constructive advice and information on the quality and relevance of applications received.
