Physical Development
We are going to be:
Forming recognisable letters.
Holding a pencil and using it with good control.
Traveling with confidence in a range of different
ways.
Learning to use the PE equipment in a safe way.
Practising our balancing and co ordination skills.
Making up our own dragon dances.
Our grown ups are going to help us by modelling how to
use the equipment safely and teaching us how to form
our letters correctly.
Literacy
We are going to be:
Writing phonetically correct words.
Linking sounds to letters and trying to write
them.
Making up our own dragon poems.
Writing newspaper reports about the ‘Elf’.
Writing our letters to Santa.
Our grown ups will help us by encouraging us to
sound out the words we are writing.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development
We are going to be:
Playing co-operatively with our friends.
Thinking about our friend’s thoughts and feelings
when we are playing.
Building our confidence when trying new
activities.
Saying when we do and do not need help.
Our grown ups will be supporting us to solve any fallings
out in a positive way. Miss Jackson will be introducing
the ‘car park’ to us where we can put things that we find
difficult.
Communication and Language
We are going to be:
Listening to stories and accurately recounting
what happened.
Answering ‘how’ and ‘why’ questions about
stories.
Talking about experiences in our lives.
Initiating conversations with our peers.
Our grown ups are going to help us by giving us chance
to discuss and sequence the stories that we read. We
are also going to listen to stories everyday
Reading Superstars
To be a reading superstar you need to read
five times to your grown up over the week.
The weekend counts as one read. If you
read three times a week you will get a prize
from the prize box.
Exploring and Using Media and Materials
We are going to be:
Making Christmas cards and calendars.
Painting an ‘Elfie’
Making pictures into elves.
Making dragon collages.
Painting seaside pictures for the Arts Project.
Acting in our exciting Christmas
performance.
Making a special bauble for our grown ups.
Making dragon music.
Our grown ups are going to help us by giving us
opportunities to make our Christmas stationary. We
are going to have our music recorded so that we can
dance to it.
Mathematics
We are going to be:
Matching the numerals 1-20 to the correct
quantity.
Finding one more and one less than a given
number.
Practising our adding and take away skills.
Describing 2D and 3D shapes.
Naming 2D and 3D shapes.
Talking about shapes in our environment.
Our grown ups will help us by giving us the chance
to answer the questions using the resources that are
available to us.
Understanding the World
We are going to be:
Taking photographs using the camera.
Playing counting games on the internet.
Shutting down the computer.
Thinking about St George and why he is
important in Britain.
Making maps with a key that somebody else
can follow.
Our grown ups will help us to use the computer and
encourage us to have a go at the programs. They
will read us the story of St George and the dragon
and give us chance to explore it.
