ERROR TASK 1.
1. Tense
A) Error: I am 46 years old and married for twenty year
Correct: I am 46 years old and I have been married for twenty years.
B) Rule: Here we are dealing with an omission of tense by the student. We use the present
perfect continuous for single activity that began at a point in the past and is still continuing.
C) Instruction: Fill each gap with the correct verb and auxiliary verb if necessary. Decide
whether it is present or continuous tense need to be used.
D) Example: I have been washing your car.---- I started washing your car a while back and the
job is still not yet done. I am still washing your car.
He has been living in that house since 2006. ------He started to live in the house in 2006 and is
still living there.
Have or has + been + verb + ing.
E) Exercise.

Word order
A) Error: Yesterday I arrived in Bath.
Correct: I arrived in Bath yesterday.
B) Rule: When we make a sentence in English we follow this word order:
Subject + Verb + Object + Adverb of place + Adverb of time
Verb + Object
The verb and the object of the verb normally go together..
Place and Time
We usually say the place before the time.
C) Instruction: Arrange the sentences into the correct order.

3. Preposition
A) Error: I’m happy to come at your school.
Correct: I’m happy to come to your school.
B) Rule: in this case we are dealing with prepositions. They link elements such as noun,
pronoun or particles. A preposition must have an object.
Please also note that a preposition is followed by a noun not a verb.

4. Grammar
A) Error: There are six, eight and eleven years old.
Correct: They are six, eight and eleven years old.
B) Rule: It takes the place of a noun. (Examples: me, he, she, herself, you, it, that, they,
each, few, many, who, whoever, whose, someone, everybody, etc.)
There are three types of pronouns: subject (for example, he); object (him); or possessive (his).
Subject pronouns are used when the pronoun is the subject of the sentence.
Example: ______ did the job.
I, you, he, she, it, we, and they all fit into the blank and are, therefore, subject
pronouns.
Object pronouns are used everywhere else (direct object, indirect object, object of the
preposition). Object pronouns are me, you, him, her, it, us, and them.
Eg: Jean talked to him.
We use they and them to refer to specific groups of people, things and animals:
