Woodbury Boys High School Hockey Announcing Instructions
1) Arrive early. Bring a pen, a copy of these instructions and the announcing spreadsheet if desired.
2) Test the microphone, cd player, National Anthem (Varsity game only) and music to make sure it works.
You are responsible for the National Anthem (if no band or singer) and music. Some music and anthem
will be on separate CD’s at the announcing area. Feel free to bring your phone to plug-in as well.
3) If possible have a National Anthem to play on your phone for back-up just in case if no singer or band.
4) Obtain starting line-ups from managers. Often it is marked on the score-sheet.
5) Be aware of additional announcements that may need to be made. You may see people come down to
request various announcements.
“Welcome Ladies and gentleman to tonight’s Boy’s (Varsity / JV) High School hockey game between the
(Visitors) and the Woodbury Royals”.
“And now for your Starting Line-Ups”: “For the (Visitors) - In goal, ##, name,
At Defense, ##, name, and ##, name,

For the (Visiting team) Head Coach is (Head Coach), Assistant Coaches are (Visiting Assistant Coaches)
“And now for your home team, the Woodbury Royals, starting in goal, ##, (name)
At Defense ##, (name), and ##, name
At Forward, ##, (name), and ##, (name), and ##, (name)”
For Woodbury, the Head Coach is Wes Bolin, Assistant Coaches are Mike Tollefsbol and Daren Messmore,
Goalie Coach is Scott Lashomb.

“Ladies and Gentleman, please rise for our National Anthem”. {play National Anthem if no singer or band}.
If all fails, announce: “Ladies and Gentleman, due to technical difficulties, please join in singing our National Anthem”
