Nursery Term 6 - Swingate Primary School

Friday, 9th June 2017
Dear Parents,
Welcome back to the start of the final summer term. I hope you enjoyed the break and that the
children are ready for the busy term ahead! It is a very exciting time in the nursery with our
afternoon children joining us in the morning, weekly dance and football sessions, Forest School and our
older children having the opportunity to spend the morning in our FS2 classes each Friday!
You should all have received a copy of our new timetable and please be aware that this is also available
to view on the Swingate School website. However, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to
ask a member of the nursery team.
Our topic this term is ‘Magical Me’ and we will be using our imaginations in our ice
cream parlour and seaside role play area. We are also going to become pirates and
princesses and find out about life under the sea.
On Monday 19th June the circus is coming to the nursery and we are going to practice
our circus skills and learn how to be a clown! The children will then have the
opportunity to use their new skills in the nursery in our outside circus role play area.
We will be making tickets and writing snack menus for our audience. We will also be
using money to buy tickets and snacks.
Before the end of term we will also learn some new sports and use our maths skills to score
our games and the children will celebrate theirs and their friends’ successes!
Our Teddy Bears’ Picnic will be on Wednesday 12th July and we will have a bouncy castle,
face painting, party food and lots of party games. The children can bring a teddy bear
from home to have their picnic with and I am sure we will all have lots of fun!
We will all have the opportunity to go to Forest School this term. We climb, explore, dig, make
mud pies and learn about our outside environment, so the right clothing and footwear is essential.
Although the weather might be hot, it remains shady and cool under the trees and the children need to
wear wellies or trainers and trousers.
We are already having a great start to the summer and we ask that children are provided with
a sun hat and that their sun cream has been applied before they come to nursery.
As you know, instead of Family Fridays we will be running Stay and Play sessions on Mondays and
Wednesdays and we look forward to sharing your child’s learning with you and having some fun at the
same time!
As already mentioned, this is a very busy term and I will keep you informed of any events that may
involve you or your child.
Thank you for your support,
Mrs Chambers, Mrs Dyer, Mrs Little, Miss Manewell and Mrs Marriott
