MUSIC TEAM
Music Team Member
The Worship Team plays an essential part in
helping SHBC be a church that is actively involved
in loving God through Worship, by helping
worshippers:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
Draw near to God.
Experience the moving of God’s Spirit.
Receive God’s Word.
Do spiritual warfare.
Serve God as priests.
Receive spiritual direction and power for life
change.
The purpose of the Worship Team is to:
1. Love God and lead the congregation in
worship to God.
2. Focus solely on God in an attitude of joy,
praise and thanksgiving.
The Worship Team consists of
three primary groups:
•
•
•
Music Team
Preaching Team
Tech Team
Music team members lead the “music” portion
of the worship service. This worship time is
important in providing the congregation an
opportunity to enter into God’s presence. Our
Sunday music is geared toward contemporary
worship while still blending in traditional hymns.
Each congregational member is encouraged to
worship in a style that draws them closer to God.
Responsibilities/Expectations:
1. Lead people in worship:
• Singers need to worship with your voice,
your face and your body – we’re leading the
congregation in worship – if we don’t clap,
we can’t expect the congregation to clap.
• Singers should be able to sing harmony to
“fill out” songs as appropriate.
• Musicians should be able to read music and
should be technically proficient with their
instrument.
• Jamming – go ahead…just don’t do it when
we’re practicing, or on Sunday mornings
before and after the worship service.
2. Practices and Services:
• Attend and participate in the worship
practices, generally held on Thursday evenings.
• Be present for the Sunday morning
practice/worship service when you are
scheduled. Refer to Order of Service emails
for the agenda for each practice/pre-service
preparation.
3. Cultivate a Spirit-filled life:
• Have no unconfessed sin in your life.
• Desire a Christ-like attitude that is
collaborative.
• Be loving and considerate to others.
• Maintain regular devotional life.
4. Strive for Excellence:
• Listen to and practice new songs at home
before practice.
• Realize that your ministry is for God and desire
to honor Him with the best of your abilities.
Approximate time commitment:
10 hours per month.
