League Rules
Fees
$620.00 per team is to be collected by the Team Rep. of each team, and remitted to the
treasurer by the 3rd game of the schedule. The Executive will deal with teams who have
not paid by the 3rd game.
Schedule
Games will be played according to the schedule posted at the Bluewater Curling Club.
Games start at 11:30 AM (or sooner if ice is Ready), and 1:45 PM. A team who is late
and has not started play by 11:45 NOON will give up 2 points, the hammer, and start play
in the 2nd end playing towards the glass. No games may start after 11:55 pm (due to
lateness), at which time the default rule will apply.
Team Rosters
Each team may sign 7 curlers, 2 of whom may be between 16 and 19 years of age.
Each team must provide a Team Roster sheet to the President by the 3rd game of the
schedule. All curlers signed by a team may play any position on that team. A team may
use spares at any time during the regular schedule. In the Playoffs a spare must be signed
to any Team Roster sheet to be eligible to play. Spares must play Lead or Second.
Scoring
On the completion of each weeks scheduled game, the Vice-Skip of the winning team
will record the score on the Score sheet provided. The Statistician will report the scores to
the media.
Point Structure
A system of Wins, Losses and Ties will be used to determine standings.
Two points per Win
One point is awarded to a team that loses a tie-breaker
Zero points per Loss
Total points for the season will determine the Regular schedule Standings. Ties in the
Standings will be broken by:
1. Most wins in the regular schedule
2. Outcome of Head-to-Head play
3. If still tied, Total Points scored in the regular Schedule will be used to break
the Tie.
Defaults
A team that is unable to ice a 4 man team may curl with 3 Curlers. However 2 of the
Curlers must be signed to that teams Roster sheet. Otherwise the game will be defaulted
to the opposing team. There will be no rescheduling of games during the regular
schedule or playoffs. All games must be played at their scheduled dates and times.
Scoring for Defaulted games is as follows:
Two points will be awarded to the non-offending team
Zero points to the team in Default
Any team that Defaults 2 scheduled games will be removed from the Schedule with no
refund of fees. The previously played games will be scored as a Bye, with no points
recorded.
Playoffs
The playoff match-ups for the first round are determined using the final standings for the
regular season. The team that finished first will play the team that finished 9th. Team 2
will play team 10, and so on….The remaining rounds of the Playoffs will be an A, B, C,
D event Format with the schedule being posted weekly. Any tie games in the Playoffs
will be broken by a full end being played toward the glass.
Ties – Regular Season
At the end of 8 ends, if teams are tied, each team will receive one point. A second point
will be awarded to the team that wins a tie breaker. Every player from each team will
throw one rock, alternating between teams. Each rock will be thrown towards the glass
with two sweepers and one man holding the broom. Any rock touching the button will
receive 4 points, the 4 foot gets 3 points, the 8 foot gets 2 pts, and the 12 foot gets 1 pt.
The team that gets the most points, wins the tie breaker.
Ties – Regular Season (cont.)
If the teams remain tied after everyone has played one rock, the teams will then select
one player to throw a final rock. The closest to the button will determine the winning
team.
Four Rock Rule
The League will play the Four Rock Rule, which states that any opponents’ rock cannot
be removed from play in the Free Guard Zone until the fifth shot of the end. The Four
Rock Rule allows either team to remove their own stones from the Free Guard Zone at
any time.
Hog Line Rule
The throwing hand must be clearly FREE of the handle before the FRONT EDGE of the
rock reaches the front edge of the near hog line.
New Teams Wanting into the League
Any new team wanting to come into the league must submit a written and dated request
to the President. The executive will maintain a file for the requests. When a new team is
needed the first dated request will be contacted first.
ALL GENERAL RULES OF THE CLUB & CURLING APPLY
