Intervention Strategy
Mats
Assessment used to identify specific KCAS (grades 1-4) in which
a student needs intervention.
A four-quadrant mat that identifies strategies designed to
move students through concrete, semi-concrete, and abstract
stages of development.
Strategy Mats can be used by the classroom teacher to get
ideas for how to embed and connect past grade-level KCAS to
current grade-level KCAS.
Strategy Mats can also be used by a teacher to provide KCASspecific intervention to tier 2 and 3 students.
Assessments written to assess each stage of the Intervention
Strategies Mat (Concrete, Semi-Concrete, Abstract). Each
probe is assigned a number that can be used to monitor
student intervention progress.
