The architectural scene (including structure and decorations [do not make the people])
Pre competition Activity – Reference only
Limit: 2000 vertices total – maximum of 1x2048x2048 pixel texture (or 4x1024x1024p)
This is a 3D modelling brief. You have 2000 vertices to model the given scene in either Autodesk 3D Studio
Max, or Autodesk Maya.
There is no time limit; however submissions for this heat need to arrive with the judges by the 15th of June
2012.
It is suggested that 2 to 3 hours are spent on producing the scene, although it is entirely up to the entrant if
they wanted to put more time into the scene, as this is not a live test.
Note that the final will be a timed live modelling competition.
You must attempt to model all of the architectural elements in the scene, and light them appropriately. Also
it is expected that you will attempt to model the decorative elements in the scene (light fittings, shop
paraphernalia, etc.) [do not model the people]
You can spend the 2000 vertices however you like – but you must not be 1 vertex over the limit.
A maximum texture size of one 2048 x 2048 pixel image can be used for the entire scene. This can be
broken down into four 1024x1024 images, or into smaller 128p 256p or 512p textures. The total of which
cannot be larger than the area of one 2048x2048p texture sheet.
