Meeting Agenda 1. Set fixed Spring Gear return and Fall registration/Gear Up dates. a. Earliest for Gear Return i. June 28th and 29th at 6:00PM – 7:30PM ii. July 13th at 6:00PM – 7:30PM iii. July 30th at 11:00AM – 1:00PM iv. Note that kids can keep gear if playing in Fall b. Gear Up and Registration i. On same nights ii. Bring Gear and Kids to check out the gear for fit and condition 2. Saanich vs GH jersey colors - Recap a. 3. 4. Review i. Orange Pinnie worked, until it fell off on certain players. ii. Overall not terrible – but would be nice to improve the issue. iii. Was considerable confusion/comments by parents. b. Options i. White pants for Saanich for their games. ii. Black for practice. c. Motion to Approve getting White Pants for Saanich (would use black for practice pants): Bill R. Seconded: Cindy > Motion Passes. Gear Up option – only hand out 1 Pair of pants on Gear Up a. Give out one with the option of getting 2 b. Motion to Approve: Bill R, Seconded: Mike R > Motion Passes. Game Commissioner Report discussion a. Repeat offenders on the penalties week to week? i. Maybe a written warning to any player that appears on this list 2 out of 3 weeks? b. Discussion i. As these are discretionary from referees and/or inadvertent penalties but are still major penalties (e.g. Facemask, Horse Collar) 1. Do this case by case, no formal rule required at this time. 2. First step, letter to coach to correct behavior and talk to the repeat offenders. ii. Some penalties, after the whistle, may be considered differently? iii. Play Count 1. Difficulty to get these players in for 10-12 plays. 2. Look to reduce the numbers for JB level? 2 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. iv. Sooke coach ejected from the game from Chief Official! 1. Appears will have 9-10 teams for Fall at Peewee ii. Play Canadian rules with 4 downs 1. Need to play 3 downs for any provincial type games. 2. Want to play 12-man football a. The provincial championships would be in Langley. b. The provincial rules do require 24 players to play in the tournament. b. Junior Bantam Division i. What to do? 3 c. Motion that Peewees are all in and pending VMFL Approval, GVMFA will send a Senior JB team to VMFL and put a Junior JB team into the VICFA league: Jon Poppitt, Seconded: Todd Reuther > Motion Passes. 10. Fall 2016 a. Proposal i. Drop the Outlaws, Hitmen and Warhawks and run with Warriors, Wolverines and Raiders in the fall. Peewees only. ii. Fall JB program would be Renegades and Warhawks. 11. Releasing Sooke from the GVMFA so they can create their own organization a. What are our issues with them? i. Need to identify those. b. What are their issues with us? i. Need to identify those. c. Need to communicate with their leadership. i. Who from us? 1. Bill and Todd ii. Who from them? 1. Brandon and ? a. Scott Gertsma? b. Ask Brandon. 12. Campbell River JB team to add a player after deadline > Passed. 13. Increase time of games to 2 hrs. a. Can’t change times now, not enough games left to go through that process again. 14. Saanich Atom team a. Add new player, swap one brother for the other. i. > Passed. 15. Victoria Rebels May 13th. a. $750 for a table b. Olympic View Golf Course c. After Week 1 – Why did you sign up, why do you like football? ii. At end of Season – would you come back? b. @Bill – add to first page, how many seasons did you play? What grade? c.
