mondays - The Fumbally

MONDAYS
Do you know when things start to become slightly overwhelming.... you realise
that you have been continuously adding things to your life, but you havn’t
taken anything away to balance it out?
Thats kind of where we are at.
We have gone from serving just eggs, falafel and coffee with only ten people
to full breakfast and lunch menus with specials that change every two days
and a staff that has more than tripled in size. We now have The Stables as
well where we continue to expand what we make in house, like our own
yoghurt, pickles, and other fermented foods. We make all our own vinegars
and ferment all our own drinks. The space also hosts numerous events and
workshops and we intend to become more active in this area.
But it has become apparent that for us to continue to give the service that we
want to give in the Fumbally we need to make some space. We need to not
grow any bigger in terms of staff and we need to all have the energy to be
able to arrive into work happy and fresh.
This is why we have decided to close on Mondays.
By creating this extra space for ourselves we will hopefully be able to do all
the extra things that we want to do – develop a learning programme in The
Stables, possibly start doing dinners in the fumbally one night a week,
establish exchange programmes for our staff with local growers to gain
experience on the land etc.
We are very sorry if this Monday closure upsets or effects you in any way, but
we hope that you can understand that it is something that we need to do in
order to grow in other ways.
We will be trialing this new five day week (beginning Aug 11th) until
Christmas, and will reasses the situation then. Never say that you cant go
back if things dont work out.
