TWO NORTH GEORGIA TEAMS FACE OFF FOR GAME THREE OF BASKETBALL SHOWCASE
The second boys game of the first annual LakePoint Basketball Showcase presented by the
Georgia Sports Hall of Fame will be between two local teams: the Meadowcreek Mustangs and
the Cartersville Hurricanes at 4PM.
Returning for his 9th year, Meadowcreek is led by Head Coach Curtis Gilleylen. With three
returning players, the Mustangs will look to these experienced players to be leaders on the
court. Sophomore Guard Jamir Chaplin averaged 8.7 PPG and 5.4 RPG last season and has
already received offers from Tulane and Western Carolina. Chaplain will be accompanied by the
frontcourt duo of Amari Kelly and Cory Hightower, both receiving interest from Division I
schools.
With their returning players and tenured head coach, the Mustangs will be facing off against a
talented Cartersville team. Located just a few minutes up the road from the Champions Center,
this will feel like a home game for the Canes with a strong fan base to support them. The Canes
head coach, Mike Tobin, produced 20 wins a season ago and brought home their 4th
consecutive Region Championship. This year, the Canes will rely on an upperclassmen laden
roster to bring poise and experience in tough match-ups. Led by JKobe Orr and Trase Fezzia,
Cartersville will benefit from this early-season test in hopes of continuing their regional
dominance.
The Showcase is being held at LakePoint’s Champions Center located in Emerson, GA. Tickets
will be on sale at the door for $7 per adult and $5 per student. Floor seating will also be
available on a per game basis. For more information, visit

Next week’s Match-Up Preview will feature the highly-anticipated game between two out of
state teams, Chattanooga’s McCallie High School against Charlotte’s Providence Day School.
Highly recruited athletes coupled with winning records and deep playoff runs by both teams
last year are sure to bring a great game to the Showcase.
