sub-committees or remove their name if they felt like they couldn’t commit to one.
7.) Website
 Natalie reminded the group that if they hadn’t signed and turned in a levels document that they need to do that.
She also reminded everyone in the group that if they picked a level 2 or 3 they need to turn in their bio forms to
Emily (AmeriCorps) so she can post the bio’s on the storycountycppc.com.
8.) Emergency Funds Referral Sub-Committee
 Natalie asked the group to set up a date and time for the Emergency Funds Referrals, also mentioning that we
could be using these funds now but we need to make this form first. Marion asked if there were other referral
forms that the subcommittee could reference and Natalie said yes, Boone/Dallas and also a DHS referral form
could be referenced. Then when talking about a date that would work for everyone, Marion brought up the idea of
using a Doodle poll so that everyone in the sub-committee could refer back to their personal schedules and pick a
day and time that works best for them.
9.) Back to School Event
 Natalie brought up to the group the Back to School Even that the Ames School District is hosting this year. She
informed the group that we did not have enough backpacks to bring to the event, but instead asked the group if
the blue canvas bags bought for Family Fest would work. The groups decide they would work fine. Natalie also
asked if anyone would want to be at the CPPC booth on the day of the even and Dan and Karen both said that they
would be willing to sit at the booth. Natalie also talked to the group about bringing a Summer Camp Scholarship
form to the event so get a general idea of those families that were interested. Amanda had mentioned that she
would be able to help out with constructing the form. Erica (Boys & Girls Club) mentioned that the event was being
hosted at the Boys & Girls club this year and couldn’t say how many canvas bags would be needed but said she
would get back to us. Karen mentioned that next year the Back to School Event partner with YSS, Nevada Schools,
and Ames School District to make one inclusive event.
10.) CPPC 101 Immersion
 Natalie told the group that she along with Boone/Dallas CPPC coordinator Jenny Felt are going to partner to host a
CPPC Immersion 101. She asked by a show of hands of those that are interested in attending and there were 17
people interested as well as Amanda saying she would have a few AmeriCorps Members that would be interested
in attending as well. It was discussed what the date should be and Marion had mentioned that Natalie and Jenny
should pick a date and just let everyone else know about it. Natalie asked everyone if they would attend the
training if it was held in Des Moines and everyone that was interested said yes they would travel.
11.) Monthly Reporting Form
 Gisela was unable to attend this meeting so Tia Foss was sent in her place to report on the Safe Seat Project. Tia
reported that in the month of June they gave away six car seats, 4 convertibles and 2 infants. Most of the referrals
were from WIC, MICA, and Ames Police. The requirements of the project being proof of Story County Residency
and that the family be on some sort of assistance like food stamps or FIP. Natalie mentioned putting the monthly
report of this project on the website. Sue asked if there were guidelines with international students and Natalie
said that they could add something to the MOU about those people.
12.) Updates
 Emily gave an update on the website promotion. She mentioned that she has been indexing the website for
Google. She also mentioned that she is working with Marion and Boost to update the CPPC information on the
Boost website. Amanda mentioned that The Sun, a few newspaper for Ames, might want to do an article on CPPC
and Natalie on her new position. Natasha gave an update on Summer Camp Scholarship Promotion. She talked
about wanting to promote the families that received scholarships on the website and talked with the group about
the feedback forms and photo/releases that could be sent out to families. Marion asked if the website was going
to list the available summer camps and the group decided that was a good idea. With Ames Park and Rec booklet
being one place to start as well as Ask resource being another. Emily said that the website Macaroni Kid was a
website that listed a good majority of websites that we could partner with them. Marvey made updated document
about the Car Seat Check Event that Natalie discussed with the group and Sue asked where they should send
someone that was in need of a car seat installation. Natalie said to send them to her (CPPC) or the Ames PD.
13.) Story County Resource Guide
 Natasha discussed the resource guide her and Emily have been working on. Explaining that they are currently
updating it and will be reaching out to the various agencies/organizations in Story County to get information about
their programs. She also told the group that if they had any new programs they wanted to be added to the guide
please email her or Emily and they will input them into the guide.
14.) Boost ECI Needs Assessment Process-Marion Kresse
 Marion discussed with the group the needs assessment that he (Boost) are starting to work on. He explained that
Boost is focusing on the ages 0-5 and that they are going to look at child abuse prevention and is it working. He
also explained that there are a lot of agencies that do various assessments but he wants to pull that all together
and make one complete assessment of Story County. He is talking to CPPC about this assessment because he
believes that Boost and CPPC can partner together to tackle the ages 0-5 but also to learn more about the different
prevention measures that CPPC is a part of. He is wanting to form a task force of about 6-8 people to tackle this
assessment. He asked if anyone would be willing to join this group and Emily and Natasha both volunteered.
15.) Review CPPC Strategies: these were discussed
16.) FY16 Budget: We discussed how we would like to make a year plan and get it approved by DCAT in June.
17.) FY15 CPPC Projects
 Because of previous conversation about using Doodle poll the dates and time for the sub-committee meetings
would be decided via Doodle poll. However it was decided that the Family Fest sub-committee meeting would be
held in September as well as the Summer Camp Scholarship meeting. For the poverty simulation it was decided
that there needed to be some talk to Sipele about when and how that was going to happen before a date for that
sub-committee was set. Hope who is a Social Working II in Story County presented on a potential Community
Based Family Team Meeting to the group. She explained the family’s situation and where they sort of want to go
from here. It was voted on by the group that they would like to fund this CBFTM and they would like an update as
to how it goes.
18.) Updates from other meetings/ events
 Marion presented on a speaker that he attended last Friday by the name of Robert Putnam. His book Our Kids:
American Dream in Crisis talks about the need for quality early childhood education. Cassandra informed the group
