Victorian Day: Whole School: 6th June: Children can come to
school dressed in any Victorian costume. Class 1 will look at
Victorian toys, Class 2 will look at the textile mills and children who

PTFA family Bingo – 6.30pm
School closes for half term today, Friday 26th May at 3.15pm. School re-opens
at 9.00am on Tuesday 6th June. Monday 5th June is an INSET day when only
teachers will be in school.
From September 2017. In order to maximise teaching time and to get the day
off to a prompt start, I will be blowing the school whistle at 8.55am for a
9.00am start. The school start time will not change.
Stay & Pray Thursday 8th June: Please join us for Stay & Pray led by Reception class
on Thursday 8th June at 9.00am. Everyone welcome.
Clubs: Just a reminder that there is no Mathletics Club today after school. The last
netball session for this term was held this week. Rounders club starts on a Tuesday till
4.15pm after half term.
Sports day: Well done to everyone who took part in Sports Day on
Monday and congratulations to the winners, Douglas, with 1493
points. Brandreth had 1154 points, Fairhurst had 1145 points and
Lindley had 1051 points.

Refreshments on Sports Day raised £56.10 to go to PTFA funds.
Awards Evening: If your child was awarded a trophy last year, please can you send it
back into school by the end of June. Many thanks.
Governor Involvement: The Staffing, Finance & Premises Committee of the Governing
Body met in school on Thursday morning. Mr Charnock came into school to discuss
special educational needs. Mr Charnock and Mrs McCluskey came to Class 3’s Greek
afternoon.
Mawdesley Tennis Club: Tennis lessons, led by Suzanne Rath from Mawdesley Tennis
Club, will continue after half term until 4th July. The course of 5 lessons, starting at
8.00am on Tuesdays, costs £15 per child/siblings half price.

There will be a non-uniform day on Friday 23rd June. Children can come to
school in clothes other than their uniform if they bring in a prize for the Family
Bingo.

DanceTalent/TeamTheme
DanceTalent/TeamTheme will be running a holiday club during week beginning 14 th
August. A flyer giving more details of this week will be issued nearer the time and parents
should book the course direct with DanceTalent/TeamTheme.
A copy of the meal ordering sheet for next week is included at the end of
this letter.
Little Saints
This week, children in Little Saints have been working on numbers 1 to 10.
Little Saints are offering full days – 8.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. If you

School Meals Order Sheet

Please indicate below which meal(s) you would like to order. The cost for children in Key Stage 2
(Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) remains at £2.20 per meal; there will be no charge for children in Reception,
Y1 and Y2. The correct payment for meal orders should be sent in with the order sheet. If you
want to pay termly in advance, please contact the office for details of the cost. Cheques should be
made payable to ‘Lancashire County Council’. Please note that the School Meals Service uses
fresh meat so they have to order ingredients in advance. To allow the cook to order the
necessary amounts, orders have to be returned to the school office no later than the Thursday
of the week before. If you would like to order a meal for your child on the day, all the choices
may not be available and there may only be a school packed lunch on offer. The school cook
cannot provide any dish that has been ordered by fewer than 5 children, but she will always
provide an alternative.
