Wearable Computing

Our goal is to expose elementary, middle school, and high school students to the creative side
of computing so that they may add computing to their creative tool set and use it as a lifelong
means of expression. In addition to computing, campers are introduced to a bit of the college life
as they go on campus tours, eat lunch in one of our cafeterias, and swim in our recreation
center. (All of these experiences and a t-shirt are included in the cost of the camp.)

Web Design
The internet is a platform on which creative ideas can be shared instantly around the world. Our Web
Design Camps expose campers to the tools and skills that will allow them to express themselves via this
world changing medium. Campers in grades 3-5 will build their own websites using templates and drag-ndrop technology. Older campers will be using web development tools and writing code to construct
websites that express their own ideas.
Dates: May 31 - June 3: (4-day week) Cost - $325
Participants: Rising 3rd - Rising College Freshman
Robotics
Robotics affects nearly every aspect of modern life. This camp gives students a peek behind the curtain
by allowing them to build and program creations that sense and react to their surroundings. Campers will
be exposed to basic computing and problem solving techniques via LEGO creatures that follow lines,
seek and hunt, and find their way through mazes.
Dates: June 6 - June 10 and July 11 - July 15
Cost: $350
Participants: Rising 3rd - Rising College Freshman
Games
Playing games can be fun and even educational. However, making your own game is empowering!
Campers will learn the creative and computational side of game making. They will apply math skills,
problem solve, think critically, and communicate with others as they make their own game creations.
Dates: June 13 - June 17 and July 5 - July 8
June 13 - June 17: Cost - $350
July 5 - July 8 (4-day week): Cost - $325
Participants: Rising 3rd - Rising College Freshman
Computer Generated Music
Musical expression is common to most everyone. Combining that expression with computing exposes
campers to a whole new world of creativity. With no prior experience in music or computer programming
needed, campers will express themselves through the creation of their own computer generated musical
compositions.
Dates: June 20 - June 24
Cost: $350
Participants: Rising 3rd - Rising College Freshman
Animatronics
Computer controlled marionette puppets and stuffed animals that move! Campers will build and control
the robotic systems that will bring these inanimate objects to life. In the process, students will be exposed
to basic computing and problem solving techniques via Scratch, ArduBlock and/or the Arduino
programming languages.
Dates: June 27-July 1
Cost: $400
Participants: Rising 3rd - Rising College Freshman
Minecraft
Minecraft is not just a game but a powerful educational platform. In this camp, campers will use Minecraft
to learn fundamental coding principles and functionality. They will utilize ScriptCraft and JavaScript (one
of the world’s most widely used programming languages) to code a world based on their own imagination.
No prior experience in coding necessary.
Dates: July 18 - July 22
Cost: $350
Participants: Rising 3rd - Rising College Freshman
Stop Motion Movies
Stop-motion animation is an art nearly as old as movies themselves. By stringing together pictures,
animators are able to give life to puppets and clay figures. In this camp, you will create your own short
film by constructing props and scenery and directing your inanimate actors. But of course, no movie is
complete without post production. You will also learn special effects techniques that will enable you to put
the finishing touches on your cinematic masterpiece.
Dates: July 25 - July 29
Cost: $350
Participants: Rising 3rd - Rising College Freshman
Wearable Computing
Combine computing and clothing and you have expression on the move. Your clothing or accessories can
display your style; bling like never before, and out shine the rest. Add lights, wires, electronics and some
programming to these everyday items to learn computing through fashion by designing your own
wearable creations!
Dates: August 1 - August 5
Cost: $400
Participants: Rising 3rd - Rising College Freshman
