Higher Education Basketball Ambassador Basketball Foundation and Nottingham Trent University are looking to recruit an enthusiastic student to drive basketball participation within the university. This programme aims to grow participation with higher education, develop a competition framework within the university and develop a sustainable workforce. The role of the HE Basketball Ambassador is to develop, implement and deliver a basketball programme within the university. Why get involved? Role Description Role title: Responsible to: Contract & Hours: Salary: Office Location: Benefits: Role Summary Higher Education Basketball Ambassador (HEBA) Basketball Foundation Project Hub Manager and the University 5-10 hours per week, flexible working hours with some evenings and weekends Voluntary University office base will be available. Home working can be negotiated Funding towards relevant coaching qualifications within Basketball including Basketball Activator Award, Level 1 Coaching and Level 2 Coaching University Sport kit Allocation of tickets to selected BBL Club, Cup Final and Play-Off Final games Two expenses paid training days References from Basketball Foundation A number of opportunities to gain additional training, work experience and potentially paid coaching opportunities. To facilitate the provision of appropriate Basketball opportunities for both male and females within the university setting To increase participation of Basketball within the university Key Responsibilities: Additional Responsibilities (where possible) Person Specification: To encourage and support participants to continue playing Basketball outside of University Utilising the Basketball opportunities to increase participation of people playing Basketball regularly within the University Provide opportunities for students, staff and community (where applicable) Facilitate/coordinate/deliver sessions when needed To communicate, market and promote the Basketball activity across the University (and community if applicable) To monitor and report to Basketball Foundation and University the number of participants attending weekly sessions To develop links with the BBL Club Project Hub programme to encourage and support participants to continue playing Basketball outside of the University To develop opportunities for participants to play competitive and semi-competitive Basketball To act as a key communication point between the BBL Club, Basketball community and the student population To promote wider Basketball opportunities, in particular coaching, officiating and volunteering development opportunities linked to the University and Plymouth Raiders o Develop student leaders, coaches and volunteers within the University o Develop student leaders, coaches and volunteers to deliver within the BBL Club Project Hub community programme Student at University Ability to manage own time and act on own initiative IT literate Experience as a volunteer An interest and enthusiasm for Basketball An interest and enthusiasm for sports development and/or project management E E E Ability to plan and manage sessions Ability to monitor and evaluate sessions to track progress Good interpersonal, presentation and communication skills Ability to develop relationships with students, staff and others E Knowledge and experience in Basketball E D Basketball qualification Knowledge of local and national sporting structures D D Interested?
