Overview
The AppNeta PathView microAppliance is designed for remote deployment to
conduct pre and post assessments and continuous performance monitoring of
critical network services.

PathView Cloud Configuration
You must configure the PathView Cloud before configuring your microAppliance.
Go to https://signon.pathviewcloud.com/signon/login.jsp and sign into your account.
In the upper right corner click on Admin > Manage Organizations
Click Add Organization button

Enter a Name
Parent should already be filled in
Enter a Description
Click Create Organization
Your new organization is now displayed.
Click Settings > Manage Sequencers
In the upper right ensure the Organization: is the organization you created.
Click Download PathView Application Configuration
Save the file to your computer.
Getting Started with the microAppliance
Change the IP address on your computer to 192.168.1.5
Connect the microAppliance Ethernet cable to your computer
Open a web browser and connect to 192.168.1.1
Default username is root
Default password is password

Click Initial Setup Wizard
You will receive a message about the Wizard. Click Continue
I recommend leaving the password with its default setting. Press Skip
Set your Time Zone then click Save and Continue

Set the Date and Time then click Save and Continue
Set the Host Name then click Save and Continue. (I will be using two microAppliance’s for a VoIP
Assessment so I have named one microAppliance “MicroAppliance-Core” and the other
“MicroAppliance-Voice”. You need an easily recognizable name)
In the Static configuration you can choose either DHCP or change the IP Address / Netmask / Default
Gateway to an address useable on your network.
Note: If you use DHCP you will still be able to manage the microAppliance via PathView without knowing
the IP address.
Choose Yes

Click Choose File
Choose the file you saved from PathView and choose Open
Click Save to load the configuration file from PathView.
Choose Restart Now
Connect the microAppliance to your network.
Change the IP Address on your computer back to its original state.
Using the PathView Cloud
Return to the PathView Cloud
In the upper right click Settings > Manage Licenses
Ensure your Organization: is the new Organization you created
Available Licences will appear under Purchased License
microAppliance will be listed under Unlicensed Sequencers

In the Purchased License the first line “AppView Voice – m20” is listed in the Organization “VoIP
Assessment”. Under Sequencer use the drop down to choose your first microAppliance.
In the Purchased License the second line “PathView 220 –m20” is listed in the Organization “VoIP
Assessment”. Under Sequencer use the drop down to choose your first microAppliance.
If you have two microAppliances do the same thing and assign one AppView license and one PathView
license. The settings are automatically saved.
In the upper right choose Settings > Manage Sequencers
Your microAppliances are listed here.
Notice the detail window on the right for the microAppliance that is highlighted.
Click on Enable Remote Access to Web Admin and wait for this to finish. This will allow remote
management of device. Once this finishes you will notice the Enable Remote Access to Web Admin
button is replaced by the link Launch PathView Appliance Web Admin.
You can now manage the microAppliance without knowing the IP address.
Do this for all of your microAppliances listed.

You have now completed configuring the microAppliances and assigned licenses to them.
Adding Paths to PathView Cloud
To begin network analysis with the microAppliances you must create a path.
In the upper left click PathView
Click Add Paths button

There are 4 options to setting up Paths. The simplest way is Option 3.
In the Monitor From column choose the microAppliance you want to set at your core.
In the Target IP Address / Host Name enter the IP address of the other microAppliance you are using.
This can be found by clicking on Settings > Manage Sequencers, highlighting the microAppliance and
getting the IP address from the details window.
In the example below I will be performing a VoIP Assessment so you will notice I have chosen to Monitor
From the microAppliance-Core, the Target IP Address is the IP Address of the microAppliance-Voice,
Network Type is LAN, Target Type is Voice Server and the Group is Default.
You can also use any Target IP Address that is pingable but more detailed test results will be available by
using the Target IP Address of another microAppliance.

If the connection between the microAppliance and the IP address you entered is setting up you will see
the message “Diagnosis service quality evaluation in progress…”
Otherwise you will see the below screen.
Create an Assessment by clicking on PathView >Assess > Assessments.
Click on New Voice Assessment or New Data Assessment depending on the test you will be performing.
Enter an Assessment Name and Comment.
Press the Add from Monitored Paths button.

Ensure the Existing Paths are checked and then press Add Paths button.
In the Assessment Settings section leave the Concurrent Calls at 5.
Remove any call analysis except the target type you created.
In the Voice Codec section change the codec to the type you are or will be using.
In the Quality of Service section check the Perform QoS Testing then choose the QoS Format, TOS and
Precedence.
Press the Start Assessment button to begin testing.
You can view the progress by clicking on the Name of the Assessment. As the test is running the
Generate Report button will be greyed out.
Once the test has completed press the Generate Report button to view your results.

Enter the Filename.

Press the Generate button.
Choose a location to save the file then press Save button.

When you open the .zip file you will see your report and a Test_Results folder.
The folder contains the PathView report for each MicroAppliance in detail.
