The seriously playful Roland Iten Calibre R822 "Predator" mechanical belt
buckle features four impressive complications. The “Predator” is designed,
manufactured and assembled to ensure that all mechanisms are self-cleaning
with no lubrication required. The white gold body with red gold accents is fullydiamond-set with 387 diamonds totalling 14.15 carats, while the platform is
made from high-tech titanium.

Ergonomic design
In true Roland Iten style, Roland conceived the Calibre R822 "Predator" calibre
with wearer comfort in mind. To that end, the Predator’s ergonomic design
allows the wearer to:
Quickly change the leather strap for another to complement attire.
Insert the end of the leather strap in the buckle so that the double ardillion tang
engages effortlessly with the holes in the leather strap.
Easily tighten or loosen the leather strap with just one hand. Security pushers
ensure against accidental release.
Tactile pleasure
Operating the Calibre R822 is a veritable tactile pleasure. The “Predator” offers
a simple one-handed adjustment for two positions, e.g. driving/sitting (looser)
or walking/sport (tighter). It is equipped with 16 (two rows of eight) selfcleaning track wheels that guide the ardillion slide precisely and securely, while
a sprung ball bearing tensioner and dampener ensure smooth operation.
A patented, in-line double ardillion enables the pins to have a smaller diameter
than the holes in the strap. The equal weight distribution offers resistance-free
operation, minimizes wear, and maximizes security.
Scintillating diamonds
The Calibre R822 "Predator" dazzles thanks to 387 VVS1+ quality baguette-cut
and round-cut diamonds which total 14.15 carats and adorn the buckle body.

Roland Iten is a prolific inventor of high-end men's accessories with many

designs and mechanisms in his range of seriously playful mechanical luxuries

All Roland Iten creations are limited editions, which both maximizes exclusivity

Roland Iten Biography
Roland Iten is a creator of seriously playful, mechanically sophisticated,
esthetically elegant and tactilely sensual accessories for gentlemen. He is best
known for creating the finest, most complex and well engineered belt buckles in
the world – designed and crafted using the same state-of-the-art machinery as
used in Swiss watchmaking.
Born in Zug, Switzerland in 1961, Roland became an inquisitive student of all
things design, training as an industrial, transport, product and communication
designer in both his native country and the USA.
He garnered an outstanding reputation while working as an independent
industrial designer on projects for world-famous multi-nationals, airlines and
luxury companies, including high-end jewellery brands, putting into practice his
exceptional grasp of product design, development and engineering.
In 2003, Roland unveiled his first high-end mechanical belt buckle, the Calibre
R8 MK I. It changed the men's luxury accessory landscape and earned Roland the
sobriquet “the Leonardo Da Vinci of Luxury”. The RK MK I’s success led Roland to
found his own brand Roland Iten Mechanical Luxury (RIML) in 2007.
Through RIML, Roland offers the ‘small boy’ in every man expertly crafted, highvalue, 100% Swiss-made creations that transform ostensibly ordinary objects
into mechanical masterpieces.
Roland Iten also creates mechanical cufflinks, shoe lace tips and credit card
dispensers featuring many and varied materials including mother of pearl, exotic
tropical hard woods, diamonds and hand-stitched leather, combined with
durable steel, lightweight titanium and precious metals.
At the heart of his inventions is the ethos “seriously playful”. Each piece is in a
meticulously crafted equilibrium, with practical functionality one side and ludic
whimsy and joyful surprise on the other.
Roland’s high-end mechanical creations appeal to all the senses, through the
sumptuous feel of the material, the smooth sound of the mechanism and the
sheer beauty of the fine finishing, not to mention the tactile pleasure of
manipulating the mechanism.
Roland has collaborated on projects for ultra exclusive Swiss watch brands,
Savile Row tailors and luxury carmakers. He was also commissioned to design
the kinetically sculptural winner’s trophy for the Madrid tennis open. Roland is
the winner of several national and international design awards and he holds
several patents.
