America’s Love Affair With Freedom
America’s Love Affair With Freedom
“There are three kinds of patriots, two bad
and one good. The bad ones are the uncritical
lovers and the loveless critics. The good
patriots carry on a lover’s quarrel with their
country, a reflection of God’s lover’s quarrel
with the world.” --William Sloane Coffin--
Gal 5:1 It was for freedom that Christ set
us free; therefore keep standing firm and
do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
Gal 5:1 It was for freedom that Christ set
us free; therefore keep standing firm and

1Co 16:13 Be on the alert, stand firm

America’s Love Affair With Freedom
John Adams in a speech to the military in 1798
warned his fellow countrymen stating, "We have no
government armed with power capable of
contending with human passions unbridled by
morality and religion . . . Our Constitution was made
only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly
inadequate to the government of any other."
Freedom’s fall begins…
(2) Behold I, Paul, say to you that if you receive
circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you

the loss of accompanying benefits.
Heb. 4:2 For indeed we have had good news
preached to us, just as they also; but the word
they heard did not profit them, because it was
not united by faith in those who heard.

receives circumcision, that he is under
obligation to keep the whole Law

"CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT
ABIDE BY ALL THINGS WRITTEN IN THE
BOOK OF THE LAW, TO PERFORM THEM.”
Heb 9:14 how much more will the blood of Christ,
who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself
without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience
from dead works to serve the living God?
Freedom’s fall concludes…
(4) You have been severed from Christ,
you who are seeking to be justified by
law; you have fallen from grace.

from obeying the truth? (8) This persuasion
did not come from Him who calls you.

quickly deserting Him who called you by
the grace of Christ, for a different gospel;
Freedom’s call continues…
(13) For you were called to freedom, brethren; only
do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for
the flesh, but through love serve one another.
