Evaluating the
coaching
programme &
junior
organisation
By the end of this month the
new junior coaching and
membership will have been
running for six months. With
this in mind the Club and
Kingsley would like some
feedback about how you are
finding things, what you like
or think works well and how
you feel things might be
improved. The Committee’s
main aim was to give
everyone the chance to
learn, play and enjoy more
tennis whilst balancing this
with the needs of the club
as a whole. We’d like to
know if we are heading in
the right direction!

Ask the Coaches
Welcome to a new section…..We asked the coaches who were their favourite players
in the current game and ‘of all time’. Some of the answers are scattered in this
newsletter – can you find them all? Apart from Ray (who said he was too young to
have an ‘all time great’ and Kane, who probably is!) everyone gave us their current &
past player…
Dave: Fav of all time, Vitas Geralitus. Died too early, but lived life to the max & could
play a bit too. For all of you, except Kingsley, Google him!
Kingsley: current - Roger Federer
Feedback from youngsters
and their parents will help
us plan for the future too. A
brief questionnaire will be
circulated soon, please fill it
in if you can.
Kane: Roger Federer - because he’s smooth
Ray: My favourite player of all time and current is Roger Federer - his movement
around the court is effortless, every stroke elegant and makes the game look so easy.
He is the ultimate all court player.
Gary: I don't really have a current favourite. Federer is a legend, Nadal's tenacity is
amazing, and Murray is a Brit so I'm obviously gonna root for him. But then I also like
the old battlers, like Lleyton Hewitt, and up until he retired, Andy Roddick.
Sharon: current favourite is Maria Sharapova.
Adult coaching programme
The adult coaching programme is also proving popular. We have daytime sessions on Tuesday afternoons and Friday
mornings
and Dave (current favourite – David Ferrer because he values every point and in any other era he would

have won a Slam by now)) also runs lessons on Monday and Wednesday evenings. If you haven’t tried these out yet,
why not give it a try? Your first session is free (racquets provided) and they are very constructive sessions with a lot of
fun along the way. Why not ‘get ahead of the game’ for the spring? Please contact Dave about the coaching and
Louise about adult membership (which is available independently of coaching too).
