To Setup Game:
Click on the PowerPoint outline tab and edit the questions. Double click on the word art letter in the balloon to
change the answer on each slide.
To Play Game:
After the student has thought of their answer, click show answer to show the correct answer for the question.
Once you’ve evaluated the answer, click on the elephant for Next Q to move on to the next question.
Editing the Presentation:
Choose the outline tab (to find outline look just below File).. Edit your questions and answers as desired.
To Use the Presentation:
Click on the points and points appear. Click again and they disappear.

To Setup Game:
Click on the PowerPoint outline tab and edit the questions and answers. Double click on the word art “Yes” and
“No” in the balloon to change the answer on each slide.
To Play Game:
Students will click on a character to choose a question. After reading the question, students will click on the ring
for the correct answer. Yes or no will then appear. After considering the answer, click on “back to rings” to pick
your next question.
How to setup:
Under the outline tab to the left, you will find a phrase written on “Slide 2.” Highlight the text the slide in the
outline and replace it with a phrase from your content area. If you press enter, it updates the slide. Hold Shift
and Enter to put a return in your phrase. Make sure to preview the game yourself to know what it looks like. So
that the students do not see the answers shown on the “Outline” tab, make sure to click on the “Slides” tab
before you show your screen to your students. There are 10 boards in this file.
How the game works:
Students answer a question given by the teacher to win try. Once they answer correctly, can pick a square to be
removed. Teacher clicks on the square; it disappears allowing part of the solution to be seen. They can guess
what it says, only on their turn. To get to the next puzzle, click the next puzzle link at the bottom of the screen.

How to Setup:
Click on the outline tab and enter questions and answers of your choice.
How to play:
Click on the lily pad as it floats in front of the frog to jump onto the lily pad. Be careful not to land in the water.
Answer the question correctly to land on the lily pad.
The Gallery is divided into 3 sections: Match the Photo, Name That … and Famous Facts. On slide 1 – change the
name of the Gallery to what matches your activity.
To Edit Famous Facts:
Enter your image prompt at the left of the slide. If you want to keep your citations for pictures and information with
the activity, copy and paste the web addresses into the text box located in the grey space at the top of the slide.
Copy and paste the slide at the left to make as many questions as you would like. You may also delete the
activities you don’t want to use. On the right, double click on the words in the boxes. If you do not click correctly it
will give you a Format Object window. Be sure to aim for click directly on the letters. Once the edit text box has
appeared, clear what is in the box and enter your information. If you want to really use points for weighted
responses, be sure you order your facts before typing them into PowerPoint.
To Play Famous Facts:
Click on the box for the text to appear. The teacher or presenter will want a printed copy of the slide to use for the
activity so that you know what text is where. This could be used for the lecture time and then as the game to save
preparation time. As the game students could be asked to recall the important information and the teacher would
reveal the box the student recalled correctly.

To edit Match the Photo:
Enter your prompt at the top of the slide. Copy and paste your first picture onto the first frame. Resize it until it fits
into the frame. Finally Right Click on the picture and choose Send to Back. Repeat for frames 2 and 3. If you
want to keep your citations for pictures and information with the activity, copy and paste the web addresses into
the text box located in the grey space at the top of the slide. To change which is the answer: click on the word
answer and slide it underneath the correct answer. ALSO click on the brown box tracing the “correct” frame and
move that to the new correct frame. If you want to get it in just the right place, use your arrow keys or hold ctrl+
your arrow keys. Copy and paste the slide at the left to make as many questions as you would like. You may also
delete the activities you don’t want to use.
To play Match the Photo: Students (or teacher) will click on the frame to answer. If you are incorrect it will say
Try Again. If you get the correct answer, a brown frame will appear to confirm the answer and Move On will
appear. Click Move On to go to the next slide.

On the Name That slide, fill in what the students are naming; example name that author. Enter your image prompt

at the left of the PowerPoint screen. Type in 4 new answers choices. To change which is the answer: click on the
word answer and slide it to the left of the correct answer. ALSO click on the star next to the “correct” answer and
move that to the new correct answer. If you want to get it in just the right place, use your arrow keys or hold ctrl+
your arrow keys. You may also need to resize how tall the invisible box is by using the top or bottom white dots.
Copy and paste the slide at the left to make as many questions as you would like. You may also delete the
activities you don’t want to use.
To play Name That…: Students (or teacher) will click on the answer. If you are incorrect it will say Try Again. If
you get the correct answer, a star will appear to confirm the answer and Move On will appear at the bottom. Click
Move On to go to the next slide.

How to setup:
Use the “Outline” tab to fill in your questions. Questions can be multiple choice or true/false. If you need
to make more questions, you can just copy and paste the existing question slides and edit your
hyperlinks. The blue arrow buttons will take you to the next question if the answer was correct or back to
the question if the answer was incorrect.
How to play the game:
When the question slide comes up it will bring up the questions and answer choices. Click on the answer
students choose. If the answer is incorrect, the slide will explain why the answer was incorrect. You can
then click on the blue back arrow to go back to the question. If the answer is correct, the slide will
explain why the answer is correct. Next, you click on the blue forward arrow to go to the next question.
To Setup Game:
Click on the PowerPoint outline tab and edit the questions. There is a clear box on top of the original correct
answer, labeled with “answer” to the left. Move that box to the top left hand corner of the PowerPoint slide so you
know where you put it (remember it is clear). Move the box off your new correct answer and place it on the original
correct answer. Grab the clear box you put in the corner and place it on top of your correct answer. Finally, slide
the word answer down to your answer. Be sure it does not overlap onto the actual slide, it is only for editing, you
do not want the students to see it.
To Play Game:
As the goalie, the student will try to block soccer balls from his goal by clicking on them. Once the student has
clicked on a ball, he will be given the opportunity to answer a question to score. When they have found the correct
answer, GOOAALL! will appear in the cloud. Click on the word GOOAALL! and will return you back to the goal for
blocking. When all balls for the first half are gone click Skip to Halftime. Click Skip to 2nd Half! to start second
half of questions. When all balls from the second half are gone choose Awards After Game!

How to setup:
You can play Hollywood Squares however it works best for your class. When you enter your questions you can
decide how you want it setup.
Real Hollywood Squares: Enter only one answer. The questions are then more or less true or false. The students or
teams then decide if they agree or disagree. If they are correct they get the square. If they are wrong, their
opponent gets the square.
Hollywood Squares: board game version: When writing the choices, use all the answers. One team will read the
question and choose an answer. They can bluff with a wrong answer or use a correct answer. The other team then
has to agree or disagree. If they are correct, they get the square; if not, the other team gets the square.
No bluff version: Play as a multiple choice game. Let the team pick the correct choice from three multiple choice
answers, or don’t put answers up at all and let them give you the answer. Correct answer gets the square. Incorrect
answer gives the square to the other team.
The easiest way to edit questions is to open the “Outline” view. At the bottom left hand corner of the screen choose
the “Normal” view which gives you a three section window, then choose the “Outline” option for the panel on the
left. You can then double click on Question and Choice 1, then just type your information in there.
How to play the game:
Have the students pick a star from “Slide 2”. Click on the star’s picture. Go to the page and do the question. At the
top click on the left box if the X teams wins the square, the right box if the O team wins the square. This will bring
you to the letter page. Just click on the letter. Then, go back and click on the left or right box of that star to show
who won the box.
To Setup Game:
Click on the PowerPoint outline tab and edit the questions. On the slide there is an arrow pointing to the original
correct answer. Click and move the arrow to the right of the new correct answer.
To Play Game:
Use the keypad to navigate the questions. To move on to the next question click the arrows pointing right. You can
also review previous questions by using the left arrows. Choose your answer and click on the line to reveal the
correct answer. If time runs out before you answer you will not be able to answer. After time expires you can still
see the question and answer choices.
Ideas:
Have students come up one at a time to answer a question on the SmartBoard. Be sure you don’t click forward to
the next question until the child is there so they have full time.

How to setup:
Use the outline tab to fill in your questions and answers.
How to use the game:
Students can choose a category and dollar amount. Click on that slide. They can give you an answer. Click on
answer to display the correct answer. When you’ve given the appropriate points, click Back to the board to
choose another question. The question you were just on should be gone now.
How to play the game:
Click on the chosen category point value to take you to the question. Follow the prompts on the screen to get to
the answer or back to the game board.
How to setup the game:
Click on the triangular boxes and drag them off of the game board. To edit the game board, click on the words in the
blue boxes. This should put white dots around the word. Click on the word again and it should get grey dots around it.
Now double click on the word. You can now edit your words. When you have changed all of the words, highlight all 6
boxes with triangles in the grey work space then drag them over to cover the boxes.
How to play the game:
This should be played with one person looking at the screen and another facing away from the screen. Click on the
triangle in the lower left hand corner of the pyramid. It should disappear. Your term should now appear. The student
looking at the screen now needs to get the other player to say the word, without saying the word (much like taboo). If
they get it, click on the word again and a dollar amount will appear. If they pass, you can click on another triangle to
get another word to try. Once they have worked all the way to the top, they can go back and work on what they
passed. They can see the ones on which they passed on the screen throughout the game.
Ideas:
You could have one person looking away from a projected screen and the rest of the class looking and trying to help.
You could also push the ppt out with a program to students in pairs at laptops and have the whole room working in
pairs.

How to setup: This game takes no time to prepare! Just gather questions you want to review with the kids, a worksheet
they worked on or questions in your head and go.
How to play the game: Divide your class into 4 groups and designate each team a color. Whoever gets the questions
right, click on the next lily pad and the frog will hop part way across the screen. First team to make it across A) wins. B) gets
the point. C) gets a prize. You then need to restart a new race by clicking on Next race. This will reset all the frogs. There are
15 races in the no questions game, but you don’t have to play them all.
Alternatives: You can also download The Pond with questions and type your questions on the slides. To label your answers,
simply move the bright colored label underneath the correct answer. The numbers for the questions are at the bottom - to
take you to the questions. Click on Answer for the Answer to be revealed. Choose Go to Scoreboard to go back to the frog
pond.
To Setup Game (How to Edit):
Click on the PowerPoint outline tab and edit the questions. To change the correct answers and the hints you must
move items in groups. You must move:
Answer: Clear square and Pink Circle; Hints: Pink X, Clear square and green line; Remaining choice: Clear square
and Pink X
The easiest way to move these sets is to draw a box around the answer choice, starting in the grey work area –
then drag the group. Start with the Circle covering the current correct answer. Select and place the group right
above the left hand corner of the slide. Rearrange the two green lines to the choices you want to have removed as
hints and the last remaining incorrect answer. Finally go back and move the circle AND INVISIBLE SQUARE onto
the correct answer.
To Play Game:
Choose a petal to remove from the flower. When the question appears, choose the correct answer. If you get it
wrong and X will appear. If you would like a 50/50 ask for a hint. As soon as you get the correct answer a flower
will fly in. Click on the flower to return to the original pluckable flower. The petal you chose should disappear. Now
you can choose a new petal to pluck. When all petals have been removed, click I’m Finished for the final message.

How to setup the game:
Open PowerPoint template and choose the outline tab at the left hand side. Change the problems to what you want. As
you go, you will need to code the correct answers. Click on the correct answer. Right click and choose Format
AutoShape. Choose Red for incorrect answers and Green for correct answers. To change from OOPS to RIGHT, right
click again and choose Edit Text, then type in what you would like.
How to play the game:
Click on the player to advance to the question slide. Click on the answers to reveal RIGHT and OOPS. Click on Move
Along to go to the next map.
How to setup:
Use the “Outline” tab to fill in your questions and answers. Print out 6 copies of the immunity idol (which is a
separate document,) or roll paper and make 6 diplomas to be used when they want to pass on a question.
How to use the game:
(teacher keeps score) Questions will appear in order. They can give you an answer. Click on answer to display the
correct answer. When you’ve given the appropriate points, click “Back to the board” to choose another question. The
question you were just on should be gone now.
With a correct answer, a point is given and they have a chance at the bonus. Click on challenge to give them the
bonus question. If they get the question wrong, click on question and it’ll skip to the next question.
Teams:
You could have teams write down the answers so everyone gets to answer all the questions. Then those who got the
question wrong would put their white boards down while the other teams can answer the challenges.

How to setup:
On “Slide 2”, there are both white boxes and blue boxes. Don’t touch the blue boxes in setup. Delete the boxes that
are already up in the play space. Copy and paste the corresponding white squares up into the play space. There is a
blue box with the white boxes to be used as the space filler. If you are playing with more than one class, save and
close the PowerPoint and reopen it for the next class.
Double click on the word Category and enter the category for this word.
How to play the game:
Students will choose one letter at a time. Click on the blue box containing the letter. That will take you to the letter
screen where you need to click again. If the letter is in your puzzle, click on the white boxes where you put the letter
and the letter should appear with applause. If it is not, hit the icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen and it
will give another sound.
How to setup:
Use the outline tab to fill in your questions. Questions should have 4 answers, not necessarily all realistic.
How to play the game:
When the question slide comes up it will bring up the questions and answer choices. Click on the answer students
choose. It will ask if this is your final answer. If you click on yes, the answer will be revealed. If you click on no, it
will laugh.
Lifelines:
There are three lifelines: phone a friend, poll the audience, and 50/50. Depending how you have your game setup
with your students you can play these different ways. If you click on the icon for one of these three it will take you
to a new slide. For “Phone a friend” the student can ask one person to help them. With “Poll the audience”, the
class gets to vote on the answer. For 50/50 the teacher eliminates two of the incorrect answers. Click on the U
shaped arrow and it will return you to the question.
If you print out the lifelines and letters, you can give each team the letters and lifelines. As teams use their lifelines,
have them give them to you so you know who has used which ones. All of the teams can answer each question by
having them pull out the answer then everyone showing the answer at once.

How to play:
This game takes no time to prepare! After the intro, one person will be prompted to setup the ships. They simply
click on the appropriate number of squares in a row as prompted. When the last ship has been set, the computer
will need a second to layer the non ships. That person should click on Hide Boats.
The student clicks to find where the boats are in the least number of guesses. This does not help practicing
graphing.
How to play:
This game takes no time to prepare! Students will need two computers to play the game. After the intro, students will be prompted to
setup their ships. They simply click on the appropriate number of squares in a row as prompted. When the last ship has been set, the
computer will need a second to layer the non ships.
One student should click on “go to my calls” and pick a space. They will call the space by coordinates. The player still looking at their
boats will click and call hit or miss (if it is a hit – there will also be an explosion). If it is a hit, the calling player will click the red box to place
a red X. If it is a miss they will click the green box to place a green O in the space. That player should then click “go to my boats.” The
player looking at boats should click “go to my calls” and do as the other student did.
If for some reason one student needs to get up, both players can click show/hide boats and they will all be hidden. When the game
resumes, they can click it again and they will re-appear.
This game can also be setup by a parent and the student plays by themselves looking for boats. The parent sets up the boats then hides
the boats and the student clicks to find where the boats are in the least number of guesses. This does not help practicing graphing.

How to play the game:
Divide your class into two groups and designate each team a name. Whoever gets the questions right, click on
that team’s white bar below their name and it will go to their “booster slide”. If the question isn’t answered
correctly, click on wrong for a boo and an animation. Click on “Next Play” to go back to the score board. When
the scoreboard comes back up, the three points will be listed. Practice this once before class just so you know
how the scores work and where to click.
How to play:

This is the classic road game made a little higher powered.
Teachers – consider using this in your classroom for naming objects that start with this letter in your classroom!
How to play the game:
Mission: Find the letters of the alphabet in order from A to Z in the area that surrounds your car.
Make sure you are paying attention – letters are everywhere:
License plates, billboards, road signs, sky banners, roof tops, vehicle decals.
Rules: When you get stuck looking for a letter for over 1 minute, start again at A – but now be looking for that letter
and A, and move on looking for 2 letters at the same time. It is typical to get stuck on letters: J, V, Q and Z.
Skipping. Letters must be located OUTSIDE of the vehicle. You may use up to 4 letters per sign.
Ideas:
Playing as a Group:
If playing with a group, call out the letter you spotted and the word you found it in.
One-on-One or Team Competition:
Designate one player or team to cars on the left side and the other to cars on the right. For fairness it is essential to
have an outside keeper of the scoreboard.

horse and it’ll ride part way across the screen. First team to make it across A) wins. B) gets the point. C) gets a
prize. You then need to restart a new race by clicking on Next race. This will reset all the horses. There are 15
races in this game, but you don’t have to play them all.

How to pay the game: Divide your class into 4 groups and designate each team a car. Whoever gets the questions
right, click on their car and it’ll drive 1/4th of the way around the track. First team to make a lap A) wins. B) gets the
point. C) gets a prize. You then need to restart a new lap by clicking on new lap. This will reset all the cars. There are
15 laps in the game, but you don’t have to play them all.
Editing the Presentation:
Choose the outline tab (look just below file). To duplicate slides, click on the slide and choose Edit -> Copy then
Edit -> Paste. Edit you question prompts and coordinates as desired.

No Editing – Game is a Scoreboard Only!
How to Play:
To place a player on home plate to bat, click on the home plate. To run to first base, click on the batter. The player
will run to first and disappear. Click on first base to place the player on first. Again to have the player run, click on
the player. To make players appear, click on the base.
To add strikes, click in the boxes and Xs will appear. To clear the strikes, choose New Batter. To add outs click in
the boxes until you need to clear the outs. Then choose New Inning. To add points click in the numbered boxes to
add another point for a team.
How to setup: This game is completely independent of questions and preparation. Simply gather questions in 6 different
categories and list those categories in the text box.
How to play the game: Initially all players will start in the center. To put a player in a new place, find their number in
the new space and click. To remove a player from the previous space, click the number on that space and they will
disappear. A role of 6 initially will put a player at the crossroads. Those are the only spaces where a team can earn a wedge.
Whatever color students land on determines the category of question they are to answer. When the team answers the
question correct they can roll again. Click on the appropriate wedge to make it appear in the space. You CANNOT make the
wedges disappear! If a player lands directly in the center, they can pick any question of their choice.

How to setup: No setup required – just gather questions and use this as your gameboard!
How to play the game: Divide students however you like, up to 12 players or teams can easily
play. Designate each team an animal from slide two. (You may want to make cards for the
students, so you can easily tell who is which team.) Roll the dice by touching the dice on the
screen. Ask a question and if they get it correct, drag the team’s character to the starting line and
move that many spaces. There are two animals, so when you move the animal one will be left
behind as well.
Ideas: If a team gets an answer wrong, the team whose space they would have landed on (or are
on) get to answer the question and steal the move if they get it right.

How to setup: Go to slide two. Click once on the bar labeled #1, this will show you the reverse
side of the panel. Double click. If it says #1, click OK – flip it again and try again. It should say
Species. Type what you want it to read. Repeat for remaining bars. If there are more than you
want, right click on the bar and choose delete.
How to play the game: To reveal answers with a SmartBoard, just touch the correct bar. How
you play is up to you. You may want a competitive question to start and the first team to get it
right, gets to try for all 7 answers first OR you may want to go back and forth between the two
teams and give points accordingly.
How to setup: Go to slide two. Click once on the first box, this will show you the reverse side of
that panel. Double click. If it says nothing, click OK – flip it again and try again. It should say a

that panel. Double click. If it says nothing, click OK – flip it again and try again. It should say a

another facing away from the screen. Click on the triangle in the lower left hand corner of
the pyramid. Your terms should now appear. The student looking at the screen now needs
to get the other player to say the words in the list, without saying the word (much like
taboo). If they get it, they will move on to the next word, then the next category.
Ideas: You could have one person looking away from a projected screen and the rest of
the class looking and trying to help. You could also push the game out to students in pairs
at laptops and have the whole room working in pairs.

letter to the original letter, to begin spelling a word. The first player or a new player then adds
another letter. Letters can be added on the beginning or the end of the forming word. The winner
is the last person before someone creates a word.
