10 tips for team captains
Follow these simple steps and watch your dollars grow!
Recruit as many people as possible to
participate on your team.
Set a goal for the amount you plan to
raise together. *Remember teams
that achieve or exceed a $1,500 goal
receive a team tent and photo
Coach each runner/walker on your team on how to register and
fundraise for stepNout.
Motivate team members and create team spirit by holding a team kickoff (i.e. breakfast or BBQ).
Share sample emails or letters with team members and encourage them
to contact all of their friends to ask them to join your team or make a
donation.
Ask your employer to support stepNout by forming a company team.
Communicate often. Keep everyone informed of the team’s fundraising
progress.
Create friendly competition among team members. Reward those who
send out the most emails, recruit the most members and raise the most
money.
Recognize and highlight team members’ successful efforts.
Thank team members for their efforts and participation and encourage
them to thank all of their sponsors. A thank you party after the event is a
great opportunity to lay the groundwork for next year.

message when they login to their stepNout Participant Center, so change
it often and use it to feed them updates and encouragement!
Create a Team URL: Create a unique Web address for your Team’s page
so it will be easy to share and publicize, like

Recruit Team Members: In the Email part of your stepNout Participant
Center, you will see a Join My Team email template you can use to recruit
co-workers and friends.
Personalize your Team Web Page: Update your team’s page with a photo
and the story of why you are walking together to end pancreatic cancer.
Email your Teammates: In the Team Progress part of your stepNout
Participant Center, you can view your team roaster and send out a quick
email to them as a group.
