PHILOSOPHY
WHAT IS THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND THIS
MODEL?
We want to promote recreational, instructional and
competitive hockey.
To Development base skills through high tempo practice.
To encouraged skill development at all age groups,
regardless of ability
Seek to promote an enjoyable recreational and competitive
experience in which players can learn and have fun.
Where We Are Now
Young players under-train and over-compete (too few
practices/too many games)
Adult models superimposed on young athletes (Early
Specialization)
Training in early years focuses on outcomes (winning) rather
than processes (optimal training)
Chronological age dominates training rather than biological age
The “critical” or “sensitive” periods of accelerated adaptation
to training are not utilized (Windows of Trainability).
