Mental Health Kickoff Event at Hernder Estate Wines
On Sunday, May 1st, the Family Mental Health Support Network of Niagara is
holding the official kickoff event for Mental Health Week 2016 at Hernder Estate
Wines. Join for Sunday brunch, live Dixieland Jazz, fine cigars and a silent auction.
All proceeds go directly to programming so we hope you’ll support this worthy
cause. If you look among your friends and neighbours, and into the student
community, chances are you know one family that’s benefited from the free
services of the Family Mental Health Support Network of Niagara. The
organization provides free educational workshops and group support to families
providing care to someone with a serious mental illness such as schizophrenia,
bipolar disorder or a mood or anxiety disorder. I’m sure you can imagine the stress
this puts on a family that has no prior experience with mental illness.

Shepell Workshop: Creating Balance in Your Life
In today’s environment of competing demands, relentless commitments, and a
consistent feeling of shortage of time, balance often does not come easily or
naturally. A conscious effort, deep commitment, and clear priorities are required
to create and protect one’s sense of balance. This session will help participants
explore how their current choices impact their work-life satisfaction and help them
develop strategies to achieve a greater balance in life.

Grapes of Wrath Training Launch
Join the Brock Team and train for the Grapes of Wrath event happening on June
25, 2016. Training will occur on Tuesdays at 12:00 pm, Thursdays at 5:00 pm and
Saturdays at 10:00 am, starting on May 3, 2016 and running for 8 weeks. Drop in
and see what it is all about.
Grapes of Wrath isn't your average charity run. This 5K obstacle and mud run
demands endurance to trek through hills and valleys, splash through winding
streams, courage to overcome more than 20 uncompromising obstacles, and a
complete lack of shame to sludge through dirt and mud all in the name of a good
cause. Grapes of Wrath is a roller coaster ride of fun, excitement, camaraderie and
physical and mental toughness that is anything but ordinary. The event supports
the Canadian Cancer Society's local Wheels of Hope transportation program that
helps cancer patients get to their life-saving cancer treatment appointments.
Niagara's volunteer drivers logged over 1 million km. last year, helping more than
900 local cancer patients.
