Thursday, March 31, 2016
Associated Student Government Conference Room
2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The ASG Board reserves the right to modify the order of the day at any time during the meeting. This may include the
removal of items from the agenda prior to their discussion. No topics or items will be added to this agenda, except as
allowed by the Ralph M. Brown Act.

D. Adoption of the Agenda
Vice President Villanaca moved to adopt the agenda with the amended changes;
 Pulling the approval of minutes for March 17, 2016 till next ASG Meeting
Senator Josefina Magana seconded. Without objections ASG President Ramirez adopted
the agenda.
E. Public Comment
This segment of the meeting is reserved for persons desiring to address the Oxnard College Associated
Student Government Board on any matter of concern that is not stated on the agenda. A time limit of two
(2) minutes per speaker will be allowed. The law does not permit any action to be taken, nor extended
discussion (Brown Act §54954.2).





ASOC, Alessandro Neri commented on a conversation he overheard in regards to
SAAM conference and would like to know what that was about.
Senator Conway commented on the expectations and policies for ASG, how much
time does a member really need to commit? She would like to see an expectation
role sheet of ASG so that students know what they are committing to.
Joshua Ruiz, ASOC, suggested to be thorough to the election training, educate
new members of their positions in ASG.
Advisor Rodriguez recognizes that ASG is time commitment, she encourages the
members to be selective on what they commit to, it’s ok to say no because there is
a full board and everyone needs to help each other out.
Oscar Moreno, ASOC student, commented on him clarifying to student
Alessandro Neri about his public comment.
F. Unfinished Business
a. Meal Tickets: (Action)
i. The ASG Board shall receive an update from the Pantry committee.
ii.The ASG Board may take action on the implementation of these resources.
Senators Conway and Mayorga gave the board an update on the Meal Ticket and
are requesting $6,000 for fiscal year 2016-2017 to get this started. Senators also
gave the board information on how these tickets will be handed out and who will
qualify to receive a meal ticket.
Secretary Anchondo moved to approve the implementation of the Meal Ticket,
Vice President Villacana seconded. Without any objections ASG President
Ramirez approved the motion.
b. Legislative Report / Updates: (Action)
i. The ASG Board will be updated on which legislature they would like to
push in Sacramento.
Senator Arredondo would like to push the showers for homeless.
Treasurer would like to push for moving away from foci fields.
ASG President Ramirez suggested the board members go online on UCSA.org
and research for resolutions and bring them in our next ASG meeting.
c. Textbook Affordability Act Resolution: (Action)
i. The ASG Board shall discuss and approve their own resolution for the
next textbook affordability act.
Senator Conway moved to set a 15 minute time limit on this item, Senator Denise
Magana seconded. Without objections ASG President Ramirez approved the
motion.
Senator Lopez moved to table the amended resolution till our next ASG meeting,
Secretary Anchondo seconded. Without and objections ASG President Ramirez
tabled the amended resolution.
d. Member Resignation:
i. The ASG Board received a resignation letter from an ASG Member.
Public Relation Officer Ruiz submitted a letter of resignation to our advisor, his
resignation will be effective after the ASG Meeting.
G. New Business
a. Opening the Snack Bar: (Action)
i. The ASG Board shall discuss the possibility of opening up the snack bar for the
Clubs and ASG to fundraise permanently through-out the school year.
Senator Lopez moved to give ASOC student Oscar Moreno 15 minutes max to
present on this topic, Senator Conway second. Without objections ASG President
Ramirez approved the motion.
ASOC student, Oscar Moreno presented to the board the idea of opening the
snack bar and allowing ASG and IOC to fundraise.
Senator Lopez moved to table opening the snack bar till our next ASG meeting,
Vice President Villacana seconded. Without any objections ASG President
Ramirez tabled the item.
b. New Mural: (Action)
i. The ASG Board shall receive a presentation for the ASG Mural Sketches.
ii.The ASG Board shall approve a sketch for the new mural.
Advisor Rodriguez gave the board brief information on the mural, she also shared
with the board the sketches that the art department gave her. The approximate cost
for this mural will be about $300.00
Senator Lopez moved to approve $300.00 for the mural coming out of the Student
Center Fee account #23116, Senator Mayorga seconded. Without any objections
ASG President Ramirez approved the motion.
H. Reports
Vice President Villacana moved to suspend the order of the day so that Senator
Lopez can give her report, Senator Josefina Magana seconded. Without any
objections ASG President Ramirez suspended the order of the day.
a. “Gabby Report”
No reports at this time.
b. ASG Officers Reports
 Senator Lopez reported that SAAM conference will be next Tuesday April 5th
from 12:30 pm to 2:00pm in the performing arts building. She will be having a
meeting on Monday from 1-2pm for any volunteers that are interested in helping
in the event.
 Senate Chair Windsor reported that senatorial meeting took place yesterday, she
needs to meet with senators after the meeting please to verify some information.
 Senator Arredondo reported on the fieldtrip that will be taken place to Cal State
Northridge on Wednesday April 27 from 8am to 3pm please sign up if interested.
 Treasurer Vazquez reported on Women’s History Month went very well it was a
great event.
 ASG President Ramirez reported that General Assembly is coming soon and that
we all need to work on the resolutions and be prepared. Needs all the board
members that are going to Ontario on April 28th to May 1st to please meet and
prepare for that.
c. Student Trustee Report
No Report
d. Committee Updates
i. Games Committee
Senator Lopez reported on the games committee, there will be four games
which are Tug a War, Capture the Flag, 3 legged race, Kickball. Having staff
wearing Blue and Students wear Green. ASG President Ramirez and
Advisor Rodriguez are looking into getting a trophy for the winner between
students and staff best of 3.
ii.Pantry / Meal Ticket Committee
Reported earlier on the agenda.
e. Event Updates
i. 5 de Mayo
Secretary Anchondo reported that they had a meeting with sociology
club in regards to this event since they are partnering up and
everything is good they are on the same page, food is good,
performers are ready. We are encouraging everyone to dress up in
Mexican attire. Will need lots of help on the day of the event
everyone please come out and support and help us out.
ii.
Asian Pacific
Secretary Anchondo reported that this event will be on May 10th
from 12:00 – 1:00 pm, key note speaker just responded back and is
interested. Food is still in the works.
iii.
Women’s History
Senator Denise Magana reported on the outcome of the event went
very well and thank the board for all the support.
iv.
Student Elections
Advisor Rodriguez reported that not a lot of candidates have
submitted their application and they will be having orientations for
anyone that is interested.
I. Announcements
a. The next Regular Meeting will be held on April 7, 2016
b. Next week the board will be working on the budget
c. MS walk will be on Saturday April 9th if anyone interested on volunteering please
see Advisor Rodriguez after the meeting.
J. Adjournment
The ASG President Ramirez adjourned the meeting at 4:08 pm.
