Dear Third Grade Parents and Students, My name is Jillian Hirst

Dear Third Grade Parents and Students,
My name is Jillian Hirst, and I am thrilled and honored to be your child’s third grade
teacher. I hope you had a fun and relaxing summer. It is going to be an exciting school year full of
learning, discovering, and exploring as we challenge ourselves in third grade to reach new heights.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2012
with my bachelors in Elementary Education. I have taught for four
years in Arizona, including three years of third grade and one year of
fourth grade. I have been married for three years to my amazing
husband, Ryan. We have two dogs that are poodle mixes named Stella
and Gracie. We love to go on road trips and exploring anywhere we can. I
personally enjoy crafting and learning how to make things I see online
for my classroom. I also love eating at Buffalo Wild Wings and
Oreganos. I am not a big coffee drinker, but I usually always have a Dr.
Pepper in my hand.
During the school year, we will be learning and exploring many
new things. We will be exploring four 9-week thematic units and at EDUPRIZE we call these
amazing units cottages. The cottages that we will be studying are The Exploration Station,
Aquarium, Desert Lab, and Plant Nursery. Through every cottage, students will get hands on
learning that aligns to third grade standards.
I am looking forward to meeting all of you at our Open House on Monday, July 24th.
Please come by to explore our new classroom, drop off school supplies, and meet the teacher from
10:30 a.m. -11:15 a.m.Also this is a chance for you to attend a carpool presentation and complete any
other vital paperwork.
Our first day of school is Wednesday, July 26th. In order to maintain your enrollment at
EDUPRIZE, students must attend the first day of school and be on time. Please wait for me outside
on the basketball courts and I will meet you there. Our third grade Regular Day Program hours are
from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 11:45
a.m. on Fridays. Students will be picked up from the playground at 7:55 a.m.
Students may arrive no earlier than 7:30 a.m.
I look forward to an amazing school year and getting to know all of you. I
know this is going to be a wonderful year of learning, laughter, and growing. I will
keep you updated on classroom activities throughout the school year with weekly
newsletters and will always inform you of opportunities for parent involvement.
Should you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me. I
hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation.
Sincerely,
Jillian Hirst
