Dear families of room 52,
Next week will be our first “full” week of school since coming
back from the break (excluding any “ice storms” or other
inclement weather).
Notes:
 By Friday, January 27, I need all payments and
permission slips for Jefferson City. I will put the parent
volunteer slips in a box and pick five at random. If you
are picked, I will send home the information with your
child that Friday.
 Scholastic Book Orders for January are due on Friday
January 27.
 There’s a small chance that I may miss a day or more
next week, as I’ve been “lucky” enough to have been
picked for jury duty. I hope they won’t need me, but if
they do, there could be a substitute for a day or two
beginning Tuesday, January 24.
Math: We’re continuing to tackle fractions getting through Chapter 7 in the GoMath textbook.
Reading: Next week, we’ll continue with Westward Expansion.
Writing: This past week, we did some introductory mini-lessons for writing historical fiction. Next
week, the kids will pick an event from a list, to write in a first-person historical fiction piece.
Social Studies: We’ll conclude Chapter 3 in the Missouri book next week, which discusses the Civil
War.
