Augusta Christian Athletic Association
September 29, 2016
RULES GOVERNING THE SPIRIT OF THE LEAGUE
1. We will start each game with a prayer. The team listed 2nd in the schedule will be the HOME team and will
be responsible for conducting the prayer with both teams and coaches at center court.
2. If a potential player is a member of a church who has an appropriate age team in the league, that player
cannot play on another church's team.
3. Each YOUTH team may have two players who are members of churches in the CSRA other than their own,
providing rule number 2 above is not violated. Unless the player is a church member in his own right, the
membership of the parents will apply.
4. For Adult teams, the player MUST be a participating member of the church for which they
are playing and MUST NOT be a member of any other church in the CSRA. “Participating”
member is defined as a regular attendee of the primary worship service and/or Sunday school.
5. The cut off for adding new players is the third (3)-scheduled game. Possible exceptions are:
a. New members in your church
b. Drop in available players due to injuries
6. Teams forfeiting more than 2 games due to lack of players may be dropped from the schedule with no refund
of fees.
7. No teams will be added after the schedules are printed.
8. Any coach, player, or spectator whose actions jeopardize the spirit of the league will be asked to leave the
facilities. Responsibility for enforcement of this rule rests with the gym coordinator on duty. We are to respect
our opponents and officials and treat them with Christian love.
9. If any player or coach is ejected from a game (due to Technical Foul for unsportsmanlike conduct or
Flagrant Foul), they will be suspended for their team’s next scheduled game. They may neither participate, nor
sit on team’s bench. (Please see rule number 6 governing play of the league)
10. If any player or coach receives an unsportsmanlike conduct or flagrant technical fouls in more than one
game, they will be expelled from the league for the remainder of the season. In order to play in future seasons,
the individual must apply for reinstatement in writing with an endorsement from the current Senior Pastor.
11.
We want all coaches and teams to:
a. Play all players dressed out, eligible and able to play
b. Not blow out another team.
c. See that all players on our teams be active participants in your church --beyond basketball.
12. If a church has more than one team in the same age bracket, the players must be divided equally by age.
I.e., on an under 13 team, the teams cannot be divided by placing all 12 year olds on one team and all the 11
year olds on the other. This will hopefully eliminate the situation where the younger team has no chance of
winning and the older team has no chance of losing.
RULES GOVERNING THE PLAY OF THE LEAGUE
Except as listed below, the GHSAA rules for 2016/2017 will apply:
ALL Age Divisions:
1. We will shoot the seventh foul.
2. We will have the "3 point line" in effect in all leagues except developmental.
3. Each team will have 5 timeouts per game. 3 Full and 2 Twenty second.
4. The clock will stop on all whistles, except in the developmental league.
5. A team, which has a 15 point or greater lead, may not press full court except in the adult competitive
league.
6. One personal technical foul for either unsportsmanlike conduct or a flagrant foul will result in an immediate
ejection from the game. An ejected player/coach is required to leave the team’s bench prior to the restarting of
the game.
7. Dunking is only allowed in the Adult Leagues per NCAA regulations. Churches have the right to
restrict dunking in their gyms for safety concerns. For all other leagues dunking is not permitted at any time
to include warm-ups and includes side goals if present. Dunking will result in a technical foul.
8. In case of a tie, there will be one 3 minute overtime period. Each team will receive one additional full
timeout. If the game remains tied, it goes in the books as a tie.
9. If a potential player is a member of his/her High School Varsity Basketball team, that person is ineligible to
play in the youth league for that year even if the school basketball season has ended. Varsity players are eligible
to play on adult teams.
10. A player may play "up" in an older age division but not down.

for time outs. If the lead drops below 20, the clock will again stop for all whistles.
15. In all leagues except the Adult Competitive, all players dressed out and physically able to perform must
play in each half. Failure to comply with this provision will result in a forfeit. Players who are injured or
must leave should notify the scorer’s table.
