Developing Close Control (Staying on the ball)
General Notes
Progression game to develop close ball control
Can be themed I.e. Spider-Man vs Green Goblin (children can choose)
Aims & Objectives
Keep possession for their age in time or touches before they can unlock
the opposite goal. You can regress and play if they keep the ball for 5 secs
(5 years old) that unlocks both goals to score in
Organisation & Setup
Game 1v1, 2v2 and 4v4 (can play 3v3 and 1v1)
Same principle when you play 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 (keep ball for your age
before you can score)
Coaching Factors & Outcomes
Drop shoulders to change direction
Arms out to protect
Ball on back foot (furthest away)
Lots of touches with different parts of both feet
Adaptation & Progression
S - Change size of pitch and goals / safe zones
T - Play with a ball in hands each (to travel with) and ball 1v1 etc
E - Add in extra goal
P - play 3v3 and 1v1
Progression - Make extra goals / points 1pt for a normal goal and bonus 10
If they use their age
