Summer Football 5-Aside
Rules and Team Registration
Thank you for entering your team/s in the YMCA Summer Football 5-aside. We are
extremely happy to have the support and guidance from Blue Rovers Football Club and
we hope this season’s football will be just as good as the last.
Please find the rules and all details you will need to know for the up and coming season.
Players must wear sandshoes or blade shoes and shin pads at all
times of play.
No bare feet or studded boots.
Team
The team will consist of up to seven players – four on field, one goalie, and up to two
subs that can be rolled on at any time.
Playing Time
The game is 15 minutes each way. A draw will be made up and sent out via email each
week before game day.
Players
If a team is short of players you may bring a player of the same age from the school or
club that the team represents. If a team is still short of players, the team number on
the field will reduce to the number of players in the team with the least players.
Start of Play
A traditional coin toss will determine the team who kicks off.
Goal Area
Only defending goalkeeper is allowed in goal area. Any attacking player entering goal
area will result in goal being disallowed. Any defender entering goal area will result in
an indirect free kick 2m from point of entry. Any attacking player entering goal area will
result in an indirect free kick at point of entry.
Goalkeepers
The goalkeeper can only handle the ball in goal area. After handling the ball goalkeeper
must roll the ball out. Goalkeeper may save the ball with his feet, but must not kick the
ball out.
Out of Play
When ball goes out over sideline, play will be started with a place kick at that spot.
Players please remember to retrieve your ball if hit out of field, game can carry on if
spare ball available.
Offside
There is no offside. Players may score from any part of the pitch.
Infringement
No player may kick the ball over shoulder height. All infringements will result in an
indirect free kick. All defending players must be 2m away from the ball when free kick
is taken.
All other soccer laws will apply eg. corners, incorrect tackling, etc.
Cancellation
No later than 1pm on the day
