It has been said that the secret of good golf is to hit the ball long, straight and at least 400 times. That may be
misquoted, but it’s what I’ll be doing on Friday, September 11th as I participate in Greek InterVarsity's annual 100-hole,
10-hour Golf Marathon. Playing in a golf outing to raise funds is not uncommon, so what is it that makes the Greek
InterVarsity Golf Marathon unique (other than the number of holes)? All of the proceeds from the Golf Marathon go
to something that I am passionate about - helping to create opportunities for fraternity and sorority students to
encounter Jesus.
Greek InterVarsity believes Jesus loves Greeks. The headline news reveals that the Greek system needs Jesus, doesn’t
it? Greek IV believes there is an amazing opportunity that exists when Greeks come to know and follow Jesus. What if
the place on campus notorious for the craziest parties and most driven people was the very place where God focused
His ministry? Greek IV exists to see Greek and Christian intersect. We exist to empower and equip members of
sororities and fraternities to live missionally in their Greek chapter, so that every Greek is one friend away from
knowing Jesus.
Funds from Golf Marathon 2014 helped 816 students from 89 campuses experience a Greek Conference, where 110
students made decisions for Jesus and 343 committed to leading ministry in their chapter. We hope that funds from
Golf Marathon 2015 will help launch a new Greek Conference in Los Angeles in January, 2016 as well as help students
connect with Jesus and learn to lead at Greek Conference Indianapolis and Charlotte.
I believe in the need for this ministry and have committed to not only participating in this event, but have also
pledged to sponsor myself at a minimum of $1 per hole. $100 helps two students attend Greek Conference and
receiving ministry training at a reduced cost. My personal goal is to raise more than $1,000. Would you please sponsor
