Applications are invited for Experiential Learning (P1/P2) at Nkomati Mine situated in Mpumalanga, between
the city of Nelspruit and the towns of Barberton, Machadodorp, Badplaas and Waterval-Boven. Nkomati
Mine is a Joint Venture between African Rainbow Minerals and Norilsk Nickel Africa.

Nkomati Mine has identified the need to be proactive in introducing students studying towards mining related
professions. The mine’s staffing needs also provide the students with an opportunity to:



Obtain practical experience in the working environment;
Earn money to support themselves during their studies; and
Be exposed to the business world in general.
1. Criteria
For a person to be considered for such experiential learning at Nkomati Mine, he/she must fulfill the
following minimum criteria:





Be a fulltime student at a registered educational institution of higher education;
Have completed the first two Academic years/semesters (full S4 qualification) and is in
possession of the examination results; Geology students must have completed their S5.
Obtained an average of 60% for the preceding academic year/semester.
Be in good standing with the educational institution and have no criminal record against his/her
name;
It is Nkomati’s policy that learners do their P1 and P2 consecutively, i.e. they will spend 1 year
on the Mine to add value and to gain thorough background and knowledge in their field
2. Conditions of contract
 Allowance: R 3 889.00, will be paid to students per month for 2016 calendar year.
 Accommodation: The Mine will carry the cost of accommodation in Mine approved
accommodation. Should a student prefer to arrange his/her own private accommodation that will
be for his /her own cost
 Travelling : Mine will provide to and from work
 Meals : Meals will be for the students own account
 Duration : 12 months

NB: Preference will be given to the people coming from our labour sending areas. (Waterval Boven,
Machadodorp, Greater Badplaas, and Surrounding Farms)
