SUM M ER CAM P 2017 Located in downtown Seattle, Spruce Street School offers eight one-week summer camp sessions for children ages 5–10. Weekly themes connect the daily activities, which include beach trips, water exploration, hikes, indoor playtime, and art projects. Counselors work to understand children’s interests, helping them to make strong friendships while enjoying a full Seattle summer experience. We will see much of what the amazing animal world has to offer without ever leaving the confines of the city. Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! July 3–July 7 This week has something for everyone: games, time outside, AND an overnight sleepover at Spruce Street School! This week is special because there is no camp on Tuesday, July 4th, meaning it is a 4–day week, but includes an overnight on Thursday. Pick-up on Friday will be at 4:30 pm. Week 3 • Sports & Games July 10–July 14 This week will be full of fun games and sports activities for the athlete in all of us. The highlight of the week will be Kids’ Day with the Seattle Storm basketball team. Run, jump, hop, skip, swim, play ball ... you name it, we can do it. Ready? Set? Go! Week 4 • Water Week 1 July 17–July 21 Travel around Lake Washington to different beaches and parks. Whether you are swimming, paddling or splashing, you are bound to have a wet and amazing time. Week 5 • Transportation Week 6 • Great Outdoors Week 7 • Food Week Week 8 • Water Week 2 July 24–July 28 Is it a plane? Is it a boat? No! It’s Spruce Street School Summer Camp! We will spend this week exploring the city through various modes of transportation. With a ferry ride across the Sound, a visit to Jetty Island, and a trip to the Ballard Locks you won’t want to miss this action-packed week. July 31–August 4 Put on your hiking shoes and get ready to explore Seattle’s most interesting parks and outdoor locations! Build a fort out of driftwood, climb trees, explore our urban trails, and get to know more of what our great city has to offer. August 7–August 11 This week is all about food. Food to eat, food art, food field trips and learning about where food comes from. Bring a favorite recipe to share with the group. August 14–August 18 Another week overflowing with fun trips to the water! Favorites include Jetty Island and Henry Moses Aquatic Center. Cool off with days full of soggy destinations, water balloons, and sprinklers! We will close a little early Friday,August 18, (at 4:30) to get ready to start another exciting school year. This summer, come to Downtown Seattle and set off on an adventure every day. This small summer camp program, centered around themes, is designed for campers ages 5–10. The program mixes daily field trips on a yellow school bus with arts and crafts projects available at Spruce Street School before and after the field trip. In addition, special morning and afternoon snacks are provided. Campers bring lunches, bathing suits, sunscreen, towels, water bottles and outdoor clothing every day, so they are always ready for adventure! A summer filled with arts and crafts, swimming, picnics, games and field trips is what Spruce Street School Summer Camp has in store for you. Consider yourself warned and come prepared to have fun!
