School News
June 5- Grade 2 – Grade 3 tour of Hubbard School
June 8- ‘At My Best Day’- students will participate in
day long activities celebrating this program, lunch and
drink will be provided.

We need volunteers to help prepare lunch (make your own
sandwiches) on Thursday, June 8th. If you are available to
assist from 11:15-12:45 (or a part of this time) please call the
school.

Please fill in the attached forms regarding our field trip and
family picnic and return to the school by Monday, June 12th

Thursday, June 15th we will have our year end field trip.
Students will be travelling to Base Gagetown where they will
be moving between 3 activities (bowling, the climbing wall
and activity room). They will then travel to Harold Peterson
for the afternoon for games. We need parent volunteers to
help us supervise and in particular, help at the climbing wall.
If you are interested, please let your child’s teacher know.
June 8- Tour of Assiniboine at 3:00 pm for students
and their parents entering grade 1 French Immersion
June 8- Orientation Night at Hubbard for parents and
students entering grade 3
June 13- Grade 2 closing –9:30 am in the gym
June 14- World’s Unbound- Science demonstrations in
the classrooms all afternoon
June 15- Year End Field Trip
June 16- Family Picnic

There are still quite a few items in the lost and found. If your
child is missing an item, please check before school ends in
June as items are bagged at the end of June and donated to
Community Living.

Report cards cannot be issued before Friday, June 23th. If you
are not going to be here, you may drop off a self-addressed,
stamped envelope and we will mail it to you.

June 23- Report Cards/Final Day
Tuesday, September 5th- school resumes
Hot lunch will end on the week of June 16th. Please note
Subway has already ended as we have special events the
next two Thursdays. Thanks to all the volunteers who
made hot lunch possible this year.
It is hard to believe the end of the school year is fast
approaching and we are preparing for another summer.
The students have all grown and developed new skills
and we, as a staff, have enjoyed working with them.
Although school is done for the summer, remember to
encourage your children to read and write to keep up
their skill level. If you are in need of books we are
certainly willing to sign some out to children, just let us
know. Have a relaxing, fun filled summer and we look
forward to seeing you again in September.

For June’s assembly we will be having students present their
products from clusters. The assembly will be held on
Thursday, June 22 at 11:15 am in the gym.
Our theme for June will be all round student.

Field Trip Permission
June 15, 2017
On Thursday, June 15, 2017 I give my child, ____________________________________________,
permission to travel by bus to Base Gagetown in the morning and Harold Peterson School on the afternoon. We will
leave the school at 8:45 am and be returning for 2:20 pm. There will be no cost for the bus as the school will cover
that cost. Parents are asked to send $6.00 for the cost the rental of an activity room, the rock wall and bowling.
At 11:30 am students are travelling to Harold Peterson School where they will have their lunch and then participate in
games the middle school students have designed and made in their Makerspace class this year. At 2:00 pm students
will then load the bus and return to Burton school for dismissal.

Family Picnic
June 16. 2016
As you know we will be having our annual picnic Friday, June 16th. All families are welcome to attend. In
order for us to plan properly for the food, we are asking you to let us know the number of people attending.
There will be pizza, a veggie tray, watermelon, cake and drinks available. We hope you can come!
