Most of all we will have lots of fun learning through play!

23rd April 2017
Dear Parents,
Welcome back everyone! This will be a short, busy term full of enjoyable activities. Our theme for the term is
‘Animals.’
The weather will be warmer, so please ensure that your child has a hat that is clearly labelled and that they
apply sunscreen before arriving at school each day. An extra drink in their snack boxes would be beneficial
but water is accessible at all times, should they need it.
Each week we will focus on a different habitat for a variety of animals. I continue to encourage the children
to bring in related animal toys, books or pictures to share during circle-time.
Our craft fun will be covered each week based on our weekly focus themes, as can be seen below:
 Week 1: Jungle and Rainforest
Week 5: Bugs and Insects
 Week 2: The Zoo
Week 6: Our Pets
 Week 3: The Arctic
Week 7: The Farm
 Week 4: The desert
Week 8/9: Under the Sea
We will also be having lots of fun with numbers, shapes and colours during our circle times. This term, we
will continue to focus on singing our letter sounds using the Jolly Phonics Phase 2 programme (which can be
found on the internet) with the corresponding actions. We will be enhancing listening skills and extending our
vocabulary during our daily story time by encouraging the children to ask questions as well as learning lots of
new fun topic-related songs and rhymes.
During the term we will focus on the following:
