I am 8 years old. I am in 2nd grade. I go to Neil Armstrong. Being told “No” Sometimes when I ask my teachers to do something they say, “No”. I get really upset and mad when I am told “no”. Accepting “No” I need to know that my teacher only says “No” because: I may need to finish my work What I want may not be available It is just not the right time Say, “Okay” I need to remember to always say, “Okay” and not get mad. Other phrases I can say are: That’s alright That’s fine Roger Stay Calm If I stay calm and don’t get mad when I am told “no”, then my teacher will be very happy. She may let me do something I want to do later. Choosing Alternatives If I stay calm and don’t get mad my teacher will let me choose something else to do that I enjoy.
