Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-America Team Announced
CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I AllAmerica Team was announced on Wednesday with 48 student-athletes earning first, second or thirdteam recognition.
The list included 13 student-athletes who made the All-America Team for at least the second time.
Albany senior Paula Heuser capped her career with a fourth-consecutive All-America selection, and third
straight on the first team. Virginia junior Tara Vittese was selected to the first team for the third year in
a row, while seniors Esmee Peet (Delaware), Anna Middendorf (Connecticut) and Natalie Cafone (Iowa)
also earned a third All-America nod. Virginia senior Lucy Hyams and Connecticut junior Charlotte Veitner
each made the first-team All-America list for the second year in a row, while others who earned a
second straight All-America honor were graduate student Welma Luus (Maryland), seniors Kate Barber
(Indiana) and Julia Young (North Carolina), juniors Laura Hurff (Syracuse) and Alexa Hoover (Penn) and
sophomore Ayeisha McFerran (Louisville).
Connecticut, Syracuse, Maryland and North Carolina led all schools with three selections apiece, with
both the Huskies and the Orange placing a pair on the first team. Both of Virginia’s honorees were firstteam selections, while others with a pair of All-Americans included national champion Delaware, Duke,
Boston College, Albany, Louisville, Penn State, Harvard and Stanford. An additional 18 schools had one
All-America selection as a total of 31 teams were represented.
The All-America Team included 23 seniors or graduate students, 14 juniors, eight sophomores and three
freshmen among the 48 honorees.
