Feasibility Project Description
1. Briefly describe your project idea for the proposed follow-on Commercialisation Fund
application including an outline of any relevant background research you have conducted to
date. (Maximum ½ page)
2. Explain why your project idea has advantages over existing research. (Maximum ½ page)
3. Explain why the applicant/project team needs the Feasibility Support (e.g. to address a lack
of market knowledge, experience in building commercial case, industry contacts) and how you
intend to use the Feasibility Support Funding. (Maximum ½ page)
4. Detail the interaction of the applicant with the TTO or equivalent office to date on this project
and interactions with the TTO or equivalent office on other projects that have led to
commercialisation outcomes – specifically, licences, options or spinouts. (Maximum ½ page)

Section 3-Project Costs
Please Note: 1. Costs to cover marketing reports or other similar resources that are
already available through Enterprise Ireland or your Technology Transfer or equivalent
office will not be funded.
2. For sub-contracted project activities, national and EU procurement requirements
where applicable must be adhered to. Suppliers/Consultants should not be named until
College Procurement is complete.
Eligible costs which can be charged to the project include:
Consultants Costs: Cost of engaging a specialist or obtaining specialist advice to scope the market,
commercial opportunity and route to exploitation for the innovation that is proposed to be the basis of the
follow-on standard commercialisation fund application.
Maximum daily rate of €900 excluding Vat but inclusive of travel and subsistence and all out-of-pocket
expenses. Selection of consultants must be agreed with TTO or equivalent office. Please include VAT in
calculating the total budget request for consultant costs.
Travel Costs: Travel by the researcher and/or others to meet with customers, companies, others that are
relevant to scoping the commercial case for the innovation.
Eligible travel costs include economy air/rail fares/bus/taxi fares. Mileage, where public transport is not
suitable and subsistence costs in line with rates permitted by the institution.
In general, travel costs to scientific conferences will not be eligible.
Please categorise travel as “Domestic” and/or “Overseas” in the table below when detailing travel
costs.
Prototyping costs: Eligible costs include materials and labour costs and a breakdown of the costs
requested must be provided. Where labour costs are requested the number of days for which salary is
claimed must be specified together with weekly rates of pay for relevant individuals. If the prototyping
work is being sub-contracted to an external 3rd party, please state this in the justification section.
Capital or IT equipment are not eligible costs.
Other Costs: Any other costs that are specifically relevant to your proposal must be fully justified. e.g.
Regulatory advice: Cost of engaging a specialist or obtaining specialist advice on the regulatory
requirements that must be considered in developing an innovation for use in humans or animals. Note-If
the specialist advice is to be provided through consultancy include the costs in the “Consultant
Costs” category.
e.g. Patent Opinion/FTO analysis: Cost of obtaining an initial opinion on patentability and/or Freedom to
operate must be fully justified.
