The young members of the community will be working towards developing a cultural dance. This dance will develop with Karlie the After School Care Coordinator from Darlington Public School. The young people will be developing this workshop at NCIE. NRL workshop held at on the NCIE field will be discussing healthy lifestyles of the professional NRL players. We will be learning new skills in passing and catching the ball. Bring all your questions along for some players that are working towards their careers in the NRL league. Please provide lunch, recess and water bottle for the day. We will be onsite at NCIE for the day 2 Tuesday 23rd September I n partnership with IDX Peter From the Coderfactory will be teaching you how to build your own game and use it on your portable devices. The Art Project: yarn bombing will involve making pom poms for the tree’s at the front of the centre that have been yarn boomed. The workshop is about engaging young participants in contributing to the NCIE and making the NCIE more colourful by their presence. Each pom pom will have a name tag and be placed in the trees in the courtyard. Wheelchair sports will be attending NCIE to run a workshop of what it is like to be a professional sportsman in a wheelchair. You will get a chance to race in a wheelchair and play a game of basketball in a wheelchair. You can also speak with the professional sports people that have been to the Olympics! Please provide lunch, recess and water bottle for the day. We will be onsite at NCIE for the day Wednesday 24th September Tri skills will be coming to NCIE for a workshop in learning how to use your body in a variety of different including how to balance and how do a hand stand. There will also be bounce races on the giant blow up cushion. This will be a fun and engaging workshop in movement and getting active. In the Art Project: Ceramics and Textiles you will be building your own creation with ceramic materials. The young people will be building their own creation to take home. Please provide lunch, recess and water bottle for the day. We will be onsite at NCIE for the day 3 Thursday 25th September We are off on an excursion! We will be spending the day from 10:00am to 3.00pm to discover the life of what it would like to live under the sea or to work as a marine biologist. We will be learning and discovering all the wonderful world of animals and also how we can learn to look after our environment. All participants to bring their lunch, recess and water bottle. We will off site at NCIE from 10.00am to 3.00pm Friday 26th September NSW Cricket will be developing skills on the NCIE field and discovering the life of a professional cricket player. This workshop will be using new and existing skills to learn the rules of cricket, how to catch a ball and what steps you can take to become the next Daniel Christian. The Griffin Theatre will be showing a production of the book Roald Dahl. We will be watching this production that is appropriate for all ages. The Sydney Story Factory will be running a writing workshop to reflect on the experiences after the production of the Witches. This will develop writing skills of the young people in the community. We will be at NCIE for the morning, then leaving to see the Witches production then returning to NICE for the Sydney Story Factory workshop in the afternoon where participants will be picked up. We invite all of our families to join us for a Friday night BBQ to celebrate the end of the program. 4 5
