OMSC History
• The Sports Club has been in existence for over 80 years
– December 1928
• Staff Club formed
– February 1936
• Old Mutual Sports Club established
– May 2002
• Sports Club became an independent operation from Old Mutual
– 2008
• In partnership with Oude Molen Academy of Science & Technology
sharing sports facilities.
– 2010
• In partnership with WPCA sharing indoor cricket facilities.
• WPCA women’s home fixtures played at Mutualpark
– 2016
• Still growing after 80 years and serving Old Mutual staff’s sporting and
recreation needs.

Driving Principles
• Mission
– To be a first class indoor and outdoor sports club providing first class
facilities for its members.
• Vision
– The VISION of the OMSC is three-fold:
• To continuously provide adequate sporting facilities and services of the
highest standard to all members;
• To promote the development of all sport relating to OMSC;
• To ensure that the Sports Club remains financially sustainable; and
• To attract new members and develop individuals to achieve at the highest
level.

The OMSC facilities:
– Are of the best in the Western Cape. Very few other facilities can boast allweather and top quality fields such as these found at Mutualpark.
– Have of the best lights for night-time sports.
– Have a professional full-time team looking after the fields.
– Are easily accessible by road and rail transport.
– Able to cater for multiple sporting codes, simultaneously.
– Are used by the Provincial Bodies, numerous schools and other sporting
bodies.
– Attract interest and are used by touring groups locally, provincially and
internationally.

• Negotiate long term management agreement (lease) with Old Mutual
• Acquiring additional sporting facilities to handle sport demands (ie,
soccer, astro hockey, cricket)
– Increasing sports development activities within the OMSC Sections
– Continuing to provide high quality of service and facilities to Old
Mutual.
• Establishing a closer working relationship with Old Mutual
• Creating a positive awareness of OMSC within Old Mutual
– Creating sporting relationships with Old Mutual clients as part of
broader relationship building exercise.
