17th May 2015
Dear Parents,
As we move into the second half of the final term of the school year, I would like to
thank you for your support of our School. Dar Al Marefa is very much a community,
notable for its bilingual approach to learning, range of student activities and depth of
parent involvement. This is a clear focus, as evidenced in both the Mission and
Vision statements, on raising the capability of our students to be able to contribute to
a just and peaceful world.
There have been many highlights so far throughout the year. Academically, the
School continues to pursue excellence and raise the attainment levels of our
students. This is made possible by the commitment of the academic staff and a
desire by the students to enjoy and succeed at learning. The School is committed to
outstanding results at all levels, with a particular emphasis on fostering the IB learner
within each of us. The academic offering is enhanced by the additional Educational
Support Services provided to assist students needing enrichment in their studies.
The ongoing revision of the English, Maths and Science syllabi this year has
rewarded the school in not only improving attainment but also securing a
continuation of our Good rating with KHDA.
There has been much to celebrate in the cultural areas of music in the PYP, drama
in the MYP, participation in national competitions as well as engagement in whole
school celebrations such as National Day, Book Week and International Day. In
sport the students have been given the opportunity to participate, enjoy, enhance
their skills and celebrate success, with the participation in interschool sports
competitions throughout the year.
At Dar Al Marefa School, we work extremely hard to make sure every child receives
a high quality education, requiring recurrent investment to enhance the environment
and the offering of the school. Ongoing investment in the School is particularly seen
in the building program, which has been extensive and has enhanced many areas of
School life.
The School Board and School Leadership Team continue to plan and think
strategically, reviewing performance, keeping abreast of emerging issues and
planning immediate initiatives. The current school planning continues to advance the
academic, co-curricular, bilingual nature of the School, supported by quality staff,
sound commercial management and preparing for future capital works.
In the past years Dar Al Marefa has been rated Good by the Knowledge and Human
Development Authority, and by maintaining the rating again this year, we continue to
reassure the confidence of our Parents and Stakeholders.
Based on the performance and ultimate rating of the school for the respective
year, KHDA also decides the increase in Fee required by the respective school
to maintain and enhance its learning environment further. This week KHDA have
approved a revised Fee structure for our School as shared below.

The School is very conscious that a Dar Al Marefa education should be of a very
high standard, provide diverse opportunities and to work in partnership with our
parents, prepare the students for life in the broadest sense. We aim to provide the
highest quality facilities and teachers contributing to enhancing student learning in
schools and continue to invest in achieving our objectives. Our journey of
improvement is continuous and we strive to excel in our targets.
With the above in mind, I look forward to your continued support and thank you for
sharing the word about our school. Our registration numbers are increasing as
parents seek to secure a place in our school for the 2015/2016. We look towards the
future with great optimism and promise to deliver a world class learning experience
to our beloved community.
Peace & Best Wishes
School Principal
