SOUPER BOWL OF CARING
SKIT
The Shuffling Chef
Submitted by: Rev. Cynthia Huling Hummer, First Presbyterian Church, NY
NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 2 speaking roles—male or female – and several kids with
collection pots.
APPROXIMATE LENGTH: 3-5 minutes, depending on how the players ham it up.
TIME FRAME: Before or on Souper Bowl Sunday.
PLOT: Interviewer invites a chef to make his/her delicious soup. Comically, the chef
adds ingredients until the secret ingredient is discovered for the Souper Bowl of Caring.
PROPS AND STAGING: This skit was written as a minute for mission to be used for
"Souper Bowl Sunday". It can easily be performed by two actors, who should be
encouraged to "ham it up big time!" You also need a few young people who are there to
collect the donations at the end of worship. Props are simple: assorted vegetables, a
few big pots, a spoon, and a dollar bill. The Chef should wear an apron and a Chef's
hat. A rolling cart works nicely- for easy set-up and exit when the skit is over.
